I am looking for my daughter who just turned 18 on July 30. She was born at Pennsylvania Hospital in Phila., PA. I am not sure where to even start since I went through Catholic Social Services and trying to get any info is impossible. I am in the process of registering with everyone that I can. Any other ideas that will help? I have been waiting for the day to come it seems like forever. Not getting my hopes up too much but I am praying everyday that this all turns out to be a wonderful reunion

Is it true that I can not locate my daughter in the state of PA? I have heard so many different things I don't know what to believe.

I have to agree with you, it is hard to locate an adoptee in the state of PA.
We have tried for years, until someone suggested to go strait to the source, which in my case was Catholic Charities. I am looking for my adopted sister, it is not only for myself, but for my mom and my brother and sisters. I contacted a woman that concentrates on searches within Catholic Charities. My heart droped when she emailed me and told me that she found the file. Since then, it has been a waiting game. There is no information on file stating my sister contacted Catholic Charities, therefore, they will not release any information. So, like yourself, I am back in the same boat. Searching and praying I may come accross her in every adoptee forum I register in. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope one day you are reunited with your daughter. I know how painful it has been for my mother, and for all of us. God Bless, Nicole |

A PA Adoptee...
I too recommend going straight to the source - in my case that was Family & Children's services of Lancaster County. When I was 19 I applied for "Mutual Consent". At that time, the law in PA allowed me to start searching for bparents. I wrote a letter to the agency, they put me on "the search list" and a few months later I was contacted by a case workers. She sent me several "release" forms to sign and then attempted contact with my bmom. I was one of the blessed ones - she found her in a few months and we have been reunited for over 15 years now. At that time, bmom could also have requested mutual consent - I don't know what the law in PA states now, but you may want to read the actual law. Then get in touch with Catholic Social Services.
Good Luck to you! Toby
