Searching Resources

Welcome to the Search and Reunion Message Board!

Note:

Confidential Intermediary: Confidential intermediaries are provided through the court for adopted adults, birth parents, birth grandparents, birth siblings, adoptive parents of a minor adoptee, and descendants of a deceased adopted adult. If the person who is located declines contact the person searching is not given any information to contact their relatives.

An adopted adult's adoption record is usually held in the Family Division of Circuit Court (formerly the probate court) closest to the adoptive parents. The court should be able to provide the name of the agency that handled the adoption. Adopted adults may contact the Department of Community Health, Customer Services Section, 3423 North Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., PO Box 30195, Lansing, MI, 48909 to request the name of the court that finalized the adoption.

Non-Identifying Information: Adopted adults, direct descendants of a deceased adopted adult, adoptive parents, birth parents, and birth siblings may obtain non-identifying information. Contact the adoption agency that facilitated the adoption.

Identifying Information: Adopted adults can receive information through the State registry on the birth parents and birth siblings. Michigan Adoption Registry: If parental rights were terminated prior to May 28, 1945, or after September 12, 1980, and there is no parental statement of denial found in the registry, the adopted adult can receive information on the birth parents and Birth Siblings. If parental rights were terminated after May 28, 1945, but before September 12, 1980, the information will be released if the birth parents or birth siblings have filed consent through the registry.

Contact:
Michigan Family Independence Agency
Adoption Services Division
PO Box 30037
Lansing, MI 48909

I was born in Brooklyn, NY at Kings County Hospital on October 27, 1967. I've been told that my birthmother's name is or at least at the time was Wendy Davis. I have no information about my father.

Get ** Birth certificate

Diane,

I have searched everything I know to search and one thing you can do is get the B-moms Birth Certificate.

I know you have the names of the maternal grand parents but with the names of SMITH its awesome at how many names you will find with the same names as theirs [I happen to know their names too from past work with you]

If you get her birth certificate it will give info you don't have now. Like where her parents were born? Hopefully their DOB { I know he was 44 and she was 43} at that time of her birth.....and if you get the BC for the sons too they will surely be easier to find than the **....females marry.
With Common names its imperative to have Middle initials but most of all DOB.

This will also give the maternal grandmas maiden name and all of that surely will change the dynamics of this search unless her name is JONES.

What is your thoughts about this........you know her parents name so that will be no problem and you can get the BC's

Just my opinion......

Blessings
Mackie

Elaine Howard (Karpuk, Defries)

Birth Name: Jillian Howard
Christ Hospital Jersey City NJ
September 30, 1950

Birthmothers name at birth Elaine Howard
at adoption Elaine Karpuk

ISO any birth family

--------------
Believe I have a sister who was also adopted. She's a couple of years younger than I. Her adopted first name is Linda. Lived in or around Cresskill, Hackensack area of NJ. Her adoptive mother died around 1990-92. My adoptive family arranged for us to meet in late 1980's but her adoptive mother got wind of it and said 'she's not interested in any of that stuff'. (grrrr!)

Her adoptive mother might have been friends with a 'Terry' who was a hairdresser or known my 'Aunt" named Anne MacDonald - who was blind. Our birth mother was friends with someone named Catracchia at one time. (can't remember her first name) At the time I was born she was married to 'The Duke' Catracchia who lived in Union or Jersey City.
