Info in original birth certificate accurate?
Hi,
We have my husbands orginal birth certificate. Does anyone know if the info on it would be accurate? What I mean is, is it or has it ever been legal to put info that is not accurate on a birth certificate? According to the birth certificate his mother's name was Sally Sue. Aren't those names usually nicknames for Sarah and Susan? We would be grateful for advise on this since the original birth certificate is all we have to go on at the moment. Thanks Sofia |

Yes, they usually are nicknames, but you never know. I have a friend who's given name is Peggy Sue and her brother's given name is Ricky Lee. That is what is on their birth certificates. You just never know.

That's kind of strange but if it's the original birth certificate it should be accurate. It's a legal document. The modified ones that adoptees use for show are often fictionalized, however.
Lucky you to get an original! Janice C. |
