HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR

I sincerely hope that THIS new year brings you Reunion with your birthfamily.

Have you posted to THE SEARCH GURU on the Search Forum in the Search & Reunion group? If not, please do so. Colleen may be able to offer advice.

Pennsylvania also has a Reunion Registry. Contact Karen_DeLuca@msn.com
She may be able to help you, even though the adoption took place in NY

I suggest, if you haven't already done so, that you check out as many of the on-line registries as you can find. There are links on this site. AND, we also have a very good Reunion Registry at http://www.AdoptionRegistry.com

Good luck, and again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I'm sure your birthmom is thinking about you today!

Hugs, Carol

Arrow Pennsylvania/New York

WELCOME TO THE SEARCH AND REUNION MESSAGE BOARD!

Even though you were born in Pennsylvania your adoption records will be in the State of New York because that is the state where your adoption was finalized.

If you know what adoption agency handled the adoption contact them for information from the adoption file that will help you with your search.

The State of New York primarily gives information to adoptees who were born AND adopted in New York. However, the adoption agency that handled your adoption should be more helpful. Ask the adoption agency for non-identifying information.

“Non-identifying information” is information from the adoption file about the birth parents. It generally includes ages, marital status, states of birth, education, religion, occupations and a physical description of the birth parents. It should also include the reason for relinquishment and may include information about aunts, uncles and grandparents. It is called “non-identifying information” because it does not include any identifying information such as names, addresses or social security numbers. If you are an adoptee and already have your non-identifying information but it is information given to your adoptive parents at the time of your adoption you should re-apply for the non-identifying information. Agencies are giving out much more comprehensive information now that they did in the past.

thank you for your well wishes. unfortunately i have pretty much registered everywhere. my adoption was through a private attorney who is now deceased. unfortunately i am not entitled to non-id, it seems b/c new york wont give it to me because i wasnt born there and pennsylvania wont give it to me because my adoption wasn't finalized there and there was no agency involved. i hired kinsolving a few months ago and i have heard nothing from them. i am beginning to feel like i am not going to be one of the lucky ones who find their birthfamilies. i hope what you say is true, that someone is thinking of me today, but then why is no one looking for me? i sound like a 5 year old i know, and i have wonderful parents who are thinking of me today, i just cant help feeling so sad today.
