ISO brother born11/??/72 in wayne co. MI, & any help searching

If anyone can help....I'm looking for my 1/2 brother, born November 13(?)-17, 1972. He was adopted through Children's Aid Society Of Detroit (?or MI). I would also appreciate any help or advice anyone could offer...I've already registered through the ISRR and contacted the Wayne Co. Gov't offices, but they say they can't release non-ID info to a sibling. Thanks for reading, and thanks for the help.....

Welcome to the Search and Reunion Message Board!

Have you asked one of the birth parents to request non-identifying information from the adoption file? Generally the agencies are more cooperative in releasing information to the birth parent than to the sibling...

reply to search guru

Thanks for your reply,Guru! My mother ( also his mother) has said that she doesn't mind if we (his sisters) look, but she doesn't want to because of all the emotional and rejection issues involved. She did give me some info from his birth certificate ( her name as listed, the doctor attending, hospital, etc.) that I am keeping back to validate any responses, but I hated to even ask her for that much because the subject makes her uncomfortable... If I keep running into dead ends, tho, I may not have any other way to go, but I'm waiting on that as my last resort. Thanks for the tips, any others will be welcome!

If your mother would use the Confidential Intermediary Service below she could request that if contact is made that the service connect you and your sibling rather than the birthmother and the adoptee. This service would require that she as the birthmother instigate the search so hopefully she will do this for you even though she doesn't personally want contact at this time.

“Confidential Intermediary Program” is a service sponsored by the state of adoption that will search for and locate the birth family member that you are looking for. This program will make the first contact but if the person contacted declines contact the agency will not give you the information to contact them yourself. There is usually a fee associated with this service. Contact this office:

Here I am, two years later, and still stuck in a dead end. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I am still hopeful, but also resigned to the fact that this may take a lot longer than I thought.
The CI is still an option, but I am keeping it in reserve as my last option...
So anyway, if you're out there, here I am !
