NYs ealed records

f dob 2-3-51 iso bf. Born in Albany, NY at Brady Hospital and Materinity home. If the records are sealed what good does it do to search? My birth records have been amended because my name was changed from what I have been told.

How do you get the original etc.? I am told I will have to petition the court but can only do so if I have a severe medical problem. Luckily, I do not have any severe medical problems.

I have used several agencies that say they can help, but then take the money and just say the records are sealed. I knew that before and am told they have their ways. Any ideas out there?

Have you requested non-identifying information? That is something you can get ... for not too much. Also, the sealed records and amended birth certificate are pretty much standard procedure. My records are so sealed in MO that even though my aparents are gone, I have found both bparents who would be happy to sign a release, and I have a grandchild myself - and I still can't get my original birth certificate. My sister found her bmom with only non-id info and I got close (but not right) with mine.

If you have been searching for 30 years, maybe if you post what roads you have traveled someone will have some ideas.

Good luck.

My non id showed nothing that would help me out. There were no names, nothing. Someone said I could petitition the courts on this matter. However, I do not have any life threatning issues.
