We are putting together some information on sealed records from older adoptions. We would like to hear your stories about what you went through putting your child up for adoption, from both original mothers and fathers. Also, what all sides of the adoption triad are going through trying to search. What we are hoping to do is put together a video for public display along with a song, to alert the general public to the plight of all of the lost ties and emotions and hopefully change the laws. We would really appreciate your help and we will keep you informed each step of the way.

i'm not a birth parent but my adoption was closed and i'm in touch with my birth mother. My birth certificate was sealed and my birth mom helped me to get a copy of it in the State of Illinois.

My name is Rachel, I'm 36 and have 3 beautiful girls, 15, 13 and 9. I was born 11~13~71, adopted from the New Jersey Children's Home Society and my birth records are sealed. I have no medical history to give my girls and none for myself. I've been searching for a long 18 years now with zer0 results. I'd really love to get new Jersey to overturn their Law on this. I have a "Certificate of Birth"; NOT a "Birth Certificate". I believe we "adoptees" have The Rightto know who Our birth family is. And may I also say that I LOVE my adoptive family, they raised me and instilled good values and human kindness inside of me and for that I will forever be thankful & blessed.~Rachel

I will get in touch with anyone who wants to help. Right now I am trying to get together with Paperback Hero(it's a band and our friend is the lead singer.) to see when we can do this and if they will be able to help. After we get some of the arrangements done I will contact everyone interested and arrange a way to either video you with your story or get it into writing. When we get all of that done then we will be putting together a video with a song about adoption and sealed records issues. You will all receive a copy.
We can still use a whole bunch of stories so send your friends.

I am helping a friend who has lived with this secret for 21 years, She hid her pregnancy and delivered a baby boy in Tulsa...she did not fully understand what "sealed" meant. It truly haunts her knowing that if he ever decided to find her (if he even knows hes adopted) that he would not be able to get her information. She was 19 when she found out she was pregnant. She went as far as the table in an abortion clinic when she realized she could NOT do it. After dialing a 1-800 number in the newspaper...she says everything happened so quickly...she was flown to Oklahoma to finish out the remaining 2 months of her pregnancy. At the time it seemed the only way out....noone ever knew....she couldnt disappoint her family..and she could imagine any other alternative...she didnt tell a single soul...until this month when she finally confided in me. So here we are researching to see if he might be looking...to find out what all the legal ramifications of "sealed" are. It seems a little hopeless at times! But we will continue making every effort to be available to baby boy...born July 1986...in Tulsa Ok!
