I was 3 years old in 1949 when I was adopted. I lived with my mother, older brother and younger brother. I know my birth name was Mary Kay Reiss and I was born in Detroit. I don't know much about my brother's. The only thing I was told was the younger one died at 18 months of age. I think my last name was different from my brother's because we had different father's.
My bio mother worked with my adopted mother and that's how I was adopted. My bio mother's husband had died during the war and I think it was just too hard to raise three of us. From what I understand my younger brother was ill so she did not adopt him out and then he later died. I'd like to try to find my older brother, but MI records are sealed and I cannot find out anything. What do you think about putting an ad in the local newspaper there? I live in TX so it's impossible for me to go to the courthouse or library to look at census records or whatever. If any one has any info as to how I can get in touch with a local advocate or intermediary there, please let me know. |
