My adoptive parents now in their 70's have held a life long vigil against providing me with any information about my adoption, other than I "was" adopted at 5 mo. Now 34, and a mother myself, long estranged from my adoptive parents, I have very, very little to go on and with that, don't know what direction to "go" in. It appears my adoptive parents did adopt me "privately", I was told, in No. Carolina. (they would not tell me the town, agency, hosp.), though I was born (have birth cert) in Richmond, VA. on Jan. 9, 1971 (yet, adoptive parent use to say Jan. 8. *Jan. 9 was his birthdate. Birth cert. states 9th). They could not have children of their own at that time, adopted me, so I'm told. Had two biological children 3 years later.
Adoptive father was a Pastor in No. Carolina, then overseas as Missionary in East Africa where I was mostly raised from 5 to 16 y.o. Then settled with adoptive parents in Central Florida. Adoptive parent from Florida and Adoptive mother from Tennessess.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
