Wow you have come so far.....you have lots to be proud of and what an awesome tribute!!! I am proud of you and you deserve your props for all of your work, patience, and efforts.....You have a good head on your shoulders and good things are going to happen for you....It's like BIE said it will happen in time and always keep the faith!!!!!

I finally got the name of my bmom.....I am excited and also nervous about making first contact. I really don't want to make any mistakes that would make her run off.....or maybe just try to break the news in a way that she doesn't just freak out..... ....I'm freaking out already....finally I'm not searching.....hard to believe that after 3 years of searching it's over.....

Thanks All!

srchin, that's wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I think I've decided there's just no magic words that will open hearts. I'm praying that your reunion will be sucessful. Let us know how it's going.

Blue,
I got the Family Tree Maker 2005 Ed. So far I love it. I'm hanging in there just a little down today. Love to all

I take it you are planning to call, but even if you decide to write, to introduce yourself just start by mentioning your name, where you are calling from or living ( like just give the state) and if calling mention that you need to speak about an important personal matter and ask if it is a good time to talk, if not you will call back...if you get the go ahead, then mention your birthdate and birth name...then go from there.

Be reassuring that you don't want to upset her life but you need to speak because...........
Then jot down questions you would like answered and don't be surprised if you don't get them all answered or asked. You will be nervous! And when talking about yourself, don't tell everything at once..leave something for her to want to learn about you...
I am sure others have suggestions that can be helpful. That is what I did...Good luck and keep us posted!

I was filing all the loose paper work into my massive search note book yesterday and noticed that the cousion who's letter came back had several variations on her address so guess who's resending the letter today! Blue hope all is well with you. Srchn have you contacted her yet?

Oh Wow....good luck..what a challenge.
Things are going ok here. MY one email profile where I do my genealogy work is locked up on me for some reason..not sure what to do..GARRRRROWR!
My cousin is off the net for a few days..away from home on a mission of mercy with a friend who has been ill. In the meantime I have all the pictures out trying to decide what to send...something of everything..I think..me over the years, my family and my folks just so they can see things are ok.

Hey Blue,

I've got the letter ready to go and have included recent pictures of myself and children. Do you think I should send some from when I was younger?

Yes, without doubt send some from when you were little. I just gathered up a set of pictures for my cousin and there are the few from when I was a 4 month old, some from grade school and my high school pic, couldn't find my college grad pic, and wedding snapshot etc...and I sent a couple pet pics..she is a dog person I am a cat person....and some of the hubby and the girls ...but going across the years is kind of fun..they may see all sorts of resemblences. Just don't send them all at once..just a few..save a few for the next time. No really bad hair days if you get my drift...
Have fun making your selection.

Srchin!
I'm so happy for you!!!!!!!! It's been a long one but worth the wait. I'm glad I get to share a little bit in your happiness. Sure beats the cousion thing you've been going through. I'm still waiting on the mail myself and of course jumping again when the phone rings. I got the tree done and it's waiting till Thursday to go get framed. I could not be happier for you. Love Newlyorphaned

I'm so glad we both made contact on the same week, we've been on this journey together for awhile now. Take heart all....just when you think it's never going to happen! There is nothing to be afraid of with regard to your non id info..you will get a verbal description of your bio parents and maybe ages, education etc but not much history if yours runs like so many of us...it is what you will be able to find by way of the agency..once the full search effort begin...then when news that there is something out there for you to access will you start to bite your nails with excitement.Good luck.

And be ready for anything...many get great results. I did not..my bmom wants nothing to do with me nor do her sisters. BUT a year after I got a nastygram from an aunt on behalf of the others, I found a cousin who said the aunt had no right to speak for her..so all things come in time....and it is the right time..Being patient is the hardest part but when the news comes in little at a time or all at once..the wait is worth it...
