Need some helpful hints.. now I have my original birthdate and hospital name..
Isn't there a way to find all the women that had babies in the county I was born (or hospital) for that day/. I thought this was public record.
Can anyone guide me through the process to help narrow down my search for my birthmother. Thanks, Tracey |

I have tried to find out the same thing in order to help another forum member who has his birthdate and hospital name, also. I've had no luck finding out where to look, though.
Something else I wondered was if a birthmother has made an adoption plan beforehand, is she published in the "Babies Born" section of the newspaper? Good luck... ~Deb ![]() |

Yeah, it seems like a dead end for now. I think the only thing I can do (outside of the CI process in IL which I am working on right now) is to have my parents file for a copy of the decree.
I have heard that sometimes the last name of the birthmother is on that paperwork. If not her name then a guardian and that should have full name, so perhaps I could hunt them down for some answers.. gosh.. what a prospect. Take care. T |

Dear Tracy, I am looking for my daughter born May 18,1972 in Des Moines, Iowa. If this sounds familiar please email me. I am using the name Raichel but that is not my real name.

I was born in Decatur, Illinois 1/17/57, adopted in 1960 and bought to TN. I am now 51 years old. My adoptive mom gave me my adoption decree about 6 years ago. It does not list my birthmom's name, but a guardian's name as guardian/probation officer. I have been told by my adoptive mom that she died a few years after my adoption. Do you know if Illinois allows search of the birth indexes? I have read if you know your birth surname, it will list the birthmom's name and the last know address. I have been working with a search angel in Illinois, but have not found out anything yet.

Contact the local library in Decatur and have them get the list of births from when you were born. Those were usually published weekly. Have you managed to find what happened to the guardian? Do you know your birth surname?
