Well now ... I'm really confused because my husband's birth certificate states he was born in Fargo, North Dakota but the number on the certificate reads 2418-3636.

His date of birth is April 30, 1965

Any help understanding this # would be much appreciated.

9 times out of 10, the numbers are only as this website says...if they are State Vital Statistics Office issued...


If you got your b-cert fromt he county registar, the numbers usually arent complete or they include other county #'s

The best way to handle questions about your b-cert, is to go to the vital statistics office and ask...if it looks abnormal, they'll tell you.

Hi. I know on my birth certificate, it lists my adoptive parents as my actual parents. Also, it did not list the hospital I was born in, nor the time. Just the date, along with my weight. For me, I always knew I was adopted, so I knew when I saw the birthcertificate it had obviously been modified. Once I met members of my b-mom, Liz's family, and my original file was opened by the Superior Court Judge, I received a copy of my original birth certificate which showed my b-mom's full name, the hospital I was born at, as well as the time of my birth.

You know, I haven't looked to see if the numbers are the same. I will have to do that.

Janet Were youo by any chance born in the state of Florida? I too am searching for my husbands birth family and on his bc it does not list a hospital, just has no by it. Unable to get much info on his. Good luck and God Bless to all in your search

HI NURSECROC! ON MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE IT STATES A HOSPITOL HERE IN MICHIGAN. BUT THEY SAY NO ...I WAS NOT BORN THERE. I GOT MY LITTLE BROTHERS BIRTH RECORDS OUT OF THERE..PLUS MY SISTERS( ALTHO NO BIRTH MOTHERS NAME AND BOTH HAVE S.P. WRITTEN ON THEM) ON THE STATE NUMBERS ON THE B.C. MINE AND MY BROTHERS HAVE 121 FOR MICHIGAN. AND MY SISTERS HAS 141...TENNESSEE?????? WHAT FIRST 3 NUMBERS DOES YOUR HUSBAND HAVE ON HIS B.C. STATE FILE NUMBER? HUGS JANET

Hi Janet: the code # is 23-42 and I dont know what that means but the state # is 109 which is Florida. It shows he was born in Coral Gables but nothing is listed in the hospital section. Go figure!!!!

HI NURSECROC! WHAT IF YOU LOOK IN THE POLKS CITY DIRECTORY IN CORAL GABLES,FLA. UNDER THE YEAR YOUR HUSBAND WAS BORN. THERE YOU WOULD SEE HOW MANY HOSPITOLS WERE OPERATING AT THAT TIME. THEN SEND LETTERS TO THE RECORDS DEPT. AND HAVE HIM ASK FOR HIS BIRTH RECORDS,FROM THE DIFFERENT HOSPITOLS. I DID THAT FOR MY BROTHER AND SISTER. MY DOCTOR DID IT FOR ME. NO LUCK IN FINDING MINE. I NEED A DIFFERENT BIRTH DATE OR A DIFFERENT NAME.. ALSO..IS THERE A DOCTORS SIGNATURE?USUALLY DOCTORS ONLY WORK AT CERTAIN HOSPITOLS. Hi Janet: Where would I find the Polks directory? We know the name of the physician but she is now deceased so that would not be of any help to us. I called the hospital where he was born (supposedly) and they gave me the run around and stated that the records were all burned in a fire (right) so no luck there either. anyhow would I go to the library or can I check online for the polks? thanks for the help
