I'm currently trying to find my birthfamily. In the process I've run into a number of obstacles, and am more than willing to help anyone get around those obstacles easier if I can. I was born in Texas in 1982 and adopted through Catholic Charities. Those two factors combined with my adoptive parents' paranoia of losing their children to "strangers" has made it pretty difficult to obtain my birth and adoption records.

For anyone who was born in TX I have access to basic birth records from ALL the years between 1926 and 1995, and am currently involved in the process of creating a series of searchable databases. If you were born in TX between 1926 and 1995 I should be able to provide a list of births for a given County, Date that at the very least will tell you First, Last and Middle names, Title(Jr. II, III, etc), and Sex. Let me know if theres anyone out there I could help out while I'm working on this little project of mine, 'K?

I am the reunited b-mom to a daughter that I placed at birth 31 years ago also with Hope Cottage in Dallas. I read your post about Judge Hal Gaither and I wanted to say that I went thru his office and obtained his permission and was able to recieve her original birth record. It took both of us signing for it, showing ID and paying $10.00 and it was produced in about 2 hours. It contained my name, marital status, age, city and state at the time of her birth and her vital stats at birth.
He retired in 2001, but his former court still does them. It also has the same state of Texas ID # that her altered copy given to her a-parents at her placement has. Its my understanding that adoptee's can obtain these without the birthmom. Take Care....Missy

I see that you live in Ft. Worth, I am in Irving - close enough. I am searching for my brother that was put up for adoption. He was born/adopted in south Texas. I have his original heirloom birth certificate with his foot prints. But I am at such a loss because of such little info regarding his adoption. If you can point me in any direction or share with me on your search I would greatly appreciate it. Especially since your so close. My brother is very close to your age. He was born in January of 1982 here in Texas. La Grange, Texas to be specific. Thank you in advance on any advice/help you can give.

Hollinga, I've e-mailed you a list of the names and birthdates of all the male infants born in Fayette County (La Grange) in January 1982.
You should be able to figure out which one is your brother by matching the DOB on his original birth certificate with the correct birthdate on the list I sent you.

i gave my son up for adoption thru catholic charities in dallas and a couple of years ago i called to ask for some information and was told that it was handled thru the ft worth office and i would have to call them. of course from there on i have come up with nothing. his dob is 8/22/81 born at st paul in dallas he stayed in the hospital about a week after he was born due to the fact he was born pre-mature and i also decided not to go thru with it but after a week i had to follow thru with it due to circumstances beyond my control and he was immediately adopted. if you like you could e-mail at lgonzolm@aol.com
