Monitoring computer and internet usage

I have a 16 year that I am hosting for the year as an exchange student.

her hosting agency really wants parents to limit internet access to help encourage the students to make friends here and be involved in school life.

My student has maybe 30 minutes of homework a night, and then she wants to be on the internet to her friends back home. Before she arrived and even after she got - we agreed to 3 hours a week of internet time.
Since she arrived, she has basically been doing anything and everything to get more time.
she skypes home to friends, she emails etc. We argue about it all the time.

I am looking for a program that will allow me to see her internet time - she uses her own computer, but it is through my wireless connection.

Anyone know of anything out there that will allow me to monitor the amount of time her computer is connected to the internet?

I can not disconnect the network as I work from home for my job and I am still working when she gets home from school.

As she makes more friends here and becomes more involved, then I foresee relaxing this rule, but right now, she would be on the internet for 6-8 hours everyday if there were no limits and that will prevent her from making friends.

Many thanks,
Deb

Try Safe Eyes

There's a lot of stuff out there that can help. We just downloaded a special web browser through our ISP (Comcast), but it's more for Middle School and younger.

When we were looking at ideas, we came across the Safe Eyes monitoring program. Check it out--it's all web-based and will send you information on where they've surfed, how long they've been on and a heck of a lot more. I believe it would also allow you to set times that are for internet usage and times that are not allowed.

We would have bought the software but we found the new browser program would work more since we all share the same desktop computer.
