letting them win at games

The 9 yr old i have for respite this weekend expects me to listen to him when playing monopoly he wants to keep rolling over and over again if he doesn't get the property he wants and if i land on it 1st he'll say don't buy it or keep trying to grab it and say sell me this ! also last night i helped him count his money to get something he didn't have enough when i went to the bathroom he "found" a 500 dollar bill on the floor well tonight he started again and i said B i'm not happy left the room came back a couple minutes later and said he had 1 more chance to play fair or i'd go get something done and he could play in his room until bedtime and he never did it again and still beat me ? I'm probably making too big of deal but I like to use this as a social lesson (what peer will ever wanna play like that) what do you guys think should kids this age be allowed to constantly cheat and change the rules or not ?

I think you had the right reaction. I usually have to lay down the ground rules... One more time and we are not playing anymore. And it usually works. It just may take a few times to actually sink in. But don't overlook it. If you catch him doing something, you have to call him out and tell him the consequence.

In our house all games are played according to the real rules, regardless of the age of the player. If they are too young to follow the rules, they are too young to play the game.
Changing the rules, allowing kids to cheat, is not giving them a very good message or life lesson.
