Question Adopting from Perm??

Hi all,
I just got informed from my agency (Commonwealth adoptions) that I am going to Perm Russia to get my child. I was just wondering if any of you have been to Perm and what to expect. My agency told me that Perm takes very good care of their orphanges and that the medicals are much better then other regions. Any comments??

Thanks a bunch!
Karen

Karen:
I was wondering if you are adopting a girl or boy? How long have you been waiting. Does Perm waive the 10 day waiting period. What has Commonwealth told you?

Thanks P

commonwealth adoption agency

hello,
I just wanted to answer your questions about commonwealth adoption agency. They have been really great and very knowledgeable. I just started in August with my home study with an agency where I live and it just got finished. I am still waiting INS approval. There are several documents I still need to get notarized and apostilled for Russia and then we go on our first trip. Commonwealth is estimating about a month after I get these preliminary documents of my dossier to them we will travel. I am requesting a boy under 18 months and a girl under 3 years. The wait for a girl under 18 months is quite long. Perm does not waive the 10 day waiting period and I guess a lot of regions are not waiving it anymore. Perm has an amusement park and zoo and is supposed to be one of the best regions for the care of their children. Very good medicals. Hope I answered everything for you.

rhouse77- Thanks a bunch for the link it will be of great help.

Karen

COMMONWEALTH

We are using Commonwealth as well. We have finished all of our paperwork and received our INS approval about 4 weeks ago. We are traveling to Kemerovo Region. We have not received our referrals yet. We are asking for an infant girl and toddler boy or girl. Kemerovo has traditionally been waving the 10 day waiting period. And also as you were told, we have been told that all of these orphanages that Commonwealth works with take good care of their children What else would we expect to hear from them. We have friends who used commonwealth last year and had very a very good experience. Their children are doing well and are beautiful. Now 2 yr girl and 3 yr boy. Best of luck to you and who knows, maybe we'll see you in Moscow!!!!

Thanks,

P
