Trying to be realistic

Aug. 28th our paper work was submitted to the Russian courts to get a review and court date. We are patiently waiting. I was told by our agency if we got our paperwork submitted we MIGHT not have to do the additional hours of training. Say we still have to do it.... Realisticly how long do you think this will take to complete. I mean we live 8 states away from our agency and we were told we would have to Skype and no reading or online was accepted. My husband is a veterinarian and works very long hours....I feel very emotional about this because we are so close to getting her home....any positive words for me??? (before I go crazy)

I don't know exactly how the new requirements are worded but would it be possible to do the additional hours of training at another adoption agency that was closer to you? That could potentially decrease some of the travel time and make it not as difficult. Hoping you won't need to do but might be worth a couple phone calls to see if that would be an acceptable alternative.

I do understand about your husbands hours etc. my husband is a physician and our difficulty was the last minute notice for trips were a nightmare! Check and see if it would be possible for you tondo the training alone. I don't know about the rules, but it doesn't hurt to check. Keep your head up, we all know what you are going through!

no real words of encouragement except that one day this will all be behind you. international adoption is a roller coast ride like none other. i'm sorry for this obstacle and all the time involved. it is sooooo hard.

Check out russianadoptiontraining.com. Our agency wants us to use them.

Wow, the fees for that course look exhorbitant!!!

I have found that these kinds of changes take place region by region. It all depends upon what the judge wants you to do, in your region. Best of luck, and as votemom said, one day you'll look back on this and feel that it was nothing in comparison.

Thanks guys for your help. From now on I will be treating every day as a new day and today I am going to be thankful. Thankful I have at least gotten a referral and do have a little girl waiting for us on the other end. Thankful that we can afford all these crazy costs. Thankful for others like you that totally get our situation. Thankful for my flexible job in case we do have to do more training. Today I choose to be THANKFUL! I just can't let this drag me down - it is out of my control and so I need to focus on what I can control. I will research all of the things you guys have given me above and have a plan in place in case we do need to do this training. If we don't need it then I can be Thankful for that! I so can't wait till I am on the other side of this giving advice to others that follow....

Costs!!

I looked at that website:

$2700 for the training! A TOTAL OF $2700!! That's amazing. I cannot believe it is that high. We finished our adoption in March, thankfully, still that number makes me hurt for those still caught up in the process. Don't the realize that some families have to fundraise, save, and scratch just to get the monies they need to travel and pay agency fees? Now they add an aditional $2700! Wow.

Adding1more- great post and attitude. This process can be such a roller coaster of emotions and is so out of our control. Trying to keep focused on the end and staying thankful will serve you well. Good luck

if that cost is accurate, that is ridiculous.

Yes, it is! We just signed up for one of the upcoming sessions. If anyone is attending the training on 4-6 January in Honolulu, HI please let me know.

I'm with Votemom. Yes, one day it will be behind you. Just a memory. And $2700? Pahleze! Ridiculous.
