Talking Age Appropriate learning level! YEA

Have to share our good, good news! Also, brag a bit on our Sons.

DS-"W" has officially been released from Hearing tests! His recent check up, in October, confirmed the tubes helped. The hearing tests came back above normal range and per the Dr., he doesn't need to be seen anymore!

His Teacher, stated that he is on target, responds to questions with subject appropriate answers, participates in class and his speech is on target, no problems! YEA!

He is age 6.

Yes, we are over the moon!

As you may recall, DS-"W" has had hearing issues since at least 8 mo of age. He didn't speak if at all until late. His hearing the same, limited if any. Surgery in 2007, helped both he and his Twin Brother DS-"E". DS-"E" was nearly age appropriate within a year. But DS-"W" has taken longer.

In addition to the 1x a month hearing therapy and same for speech therapy, I added daily sessions at home to help them both get to an age appropriate level. All the pictures they had seen, Cows, plane, car, pig, etc., all had to be re-learned adding in the sound. Additionally the sound of water running, door bells and phones ringing, what the wind sounds like, all had to be relearned.

Both are in 1st grade, separate classes, age 6 and don't read lips anymore. Before, we wondered if they'd ever talk. Now, they don't stop talking.

DS-"W" brings home high marks on his work, reading is getting better and math is his strong subject.

DS-"E" has a book appetite that cannot be filled. He reads between a 2nd and 3rd grade level, is on the AR program and reads up to 3 books a day. On the weekends, he'll get up early to read before breakfast. Math is his strong subject as well.

Had to share our good, good news!
