Apostilles

Has anyone had problems w/their region not accepting their states apostilles? Ours is saying that our states isn't "secure" enough with the apostille being just stapeled to the doc in the top left corner. It's not as "tamper proof" as they would like. If so, what did you do? This is literally what is holding us up from getting our court date.

in michigan, there is a gold seal sticker that has to be folded over the top of the document and apostille page.

russia is all about the stamps and seals.. i do know that.

very sorry about this setback!!!

So typical for Russia! I'm sorry this is delaying your court hearing!

if they make you re-do the documents, work with your Sec of State to get the big gold seal/sticker applied around the front of the top document to the back of the bottom document, maybe even over the staple area.

i know of one mom who drove to the sec of state to get the apostilles, then actually stitched her documents together along the left side, with thick thread, right there in the Sec of State office, and then had the clerk attach another seal over the ends of the thread and stamp the Sec of State signature across the seal and page. it was overkill but it worked! (this is actually similar to how docs are secured together in some foreign countries.)

I'm so sorry to hear about your possible 'bump'..seems like it's always something..

Do you mind if I ask your region that is requiring this for the Apostilles?

We live in Missouri and they would staple our paperwork together and then put a large state seal label over the staples on the side of the paperwork.
Good luck with your journey.
