Is it too early to ask - Whatchya gettin' your kids for Christmas?
DD is five years old, and every year it seems more difficult to shop for her. This year we're starting a new tradition of giving her only three gifts. She has no strong interests in anything, probably because we go "play" in the toy department of the store so often. I need some ideas!!!

I might even be done! Delaney will be 5 in Feb and there nothing specific she has says she wants, either. Except a REAL blender and another Bible. Doh! What? Nut.
She is getting so far, a dollhouse I found on clearance YAY! A new bigger bike I found on craiglists list for $25! Those will be her Santa gifts. She wanted Gator Golf last year so I picked it up on sale last week and she loves her Dora slippers that are way too small that she keeps trying to wear, so I got her new ones. She is in need of some new pants, so she will get some clothes, too. Luckily you can get girls clothes and they love them. I was trying to find some more developmental game type things for her. My mom got her some work books which she loves. My dd also loves arts and crafts things, there are some cute craft things on amazon, but Target has a whole aisle of fun arts and crafts things, if your littles one likes to draw and paint and color. Delaney loves those glitter pens. Any movies your DD might enjoy getting a DVD of? Oh, dd has asked for a Baby Alive, but she's not getting that, and she is also starting to get into Barbies right now. Good luck finding gifts! This is a hard age, huh? They can still play and use most of what they have and it's so sweet they dont' really want anything.

Just remember that, the older a child gets, the more she will want expensive toys and gadgets. You only have a short time until your child is asking for electronics like Nintendo DS, Wii, portable DVD player, karaoke machine, i-Pod, cool cell phone, etc.! So be thankful that your child isn't asking for oceans of things now, and start putting some money aside for later gifts.

Since we are at the 'older' ages...we only allow for one gift (up to a set amount) and then a stocking. No one believes in Santa...so we don't even do that anymore.
DS1 is designing his own Nike Shox. It is cool. That is what he wanted to do (ridiculous cost...) DS2 has NO idea what he wants...but he's getting an iPod which he didn't think he had a shot at getting! DD is getting a new bike - an actual nice one since she rides a LOT!

My eight her old wants a trampoline with a catch net on the front lawn and a puppy. She is getting neither. She is also willing to get a cell phone, which she is also not getting.
I am hoping that she finds something else that she wants. She got Zhu Zhu pets for her birthday and is getting a few more pieces for Christmas. I will probably buy her Jenga - which she played at her cousin's and liked. I was thinking a karaoke machine. She loves to sing. When I have introduced the idea, she didn't seem to go for it, so I don't know what to do. I really think she would like it, as I listern to her sing now. So that still may be the way I go for her "big" gift.

Both daughters are getting digital cameras - they both want one, the 15 y.o. will get a nice one like mine and the 4 y.o. will get a Fischer-Price. The 4 y.o. will probably get a zhuzhu pet from her sister. We also are adopting a 7 y.o. boy and not sure what he's going to want but will get a bike either for Xmas or Bday in Feb.

Oh. Last year Santa brought an art easel, and she paints or draws on it almost everyday! I got a "toolBox" of paints and stamps etc. for her to use with it, it's from Parents.
With two sides, when her friends are over, they both paint at the same time.

my five year old girlie is making her list and adding daily. So far she definitely wants a cupcake maker, blendy pens, and a princess puppy (real pup that she can dress up with bows, a princess bed and pink collar, tags, etc. She talks about this non-stop. I actually was on petfinder last night and then realized I was losing my mind considering this!).
She'll probably get the blendy pens and the cupcake maker. She has mentioned a few times that she wants a Nintendo DS but I know she will not play with it so I am thinking no to that. I might get her a game to play on her brother's only when he's not in the car to see how interested she is.

That sounds just like my 5 (almost 6) year old! My daughter also will not be getting those things. My daughter just 'inherited' a Nintendo DS from her big brother who got a DSI for his birthday so she will be getting some games. (Keeping my eye out on Ebay and at Gamestop.) She is also obsessed with Webkinz, so that will be another thing. The hard part is her birthday is two weeks before Christmas, so I need ideas for both! She goes through art stuff (paper, crayons, markers, stickers, etc.) like crazy, so Santa will probably be restocking her art supplies. I have to look into what these blendy pens that GCS mentioned are. Sounds interesting! The only thing my 11 year old son wants is a $250 Star Wars Lego set. He has even offered to leave $50 out for Santa to help pay for it. My 6 year old son is the hardest. There is not a single thing he is really into. He likes to listen to music as he is falling asleep and his Fisher Price tape player eats batteries like crazy, so I am thinking I need to look for a CD player or radio or something that plugs in and will shut off on its own.

Not too early, I am just about done for A
! His birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas (he will be 7 on Dec. 10th ) so I have to start early with him. We have never gone overboard with him for Christmas and since he is mostly into Lego building sets its pretty easy. He has been doing the 8-14 age group building sets now for about a year, reading the 50 page plus instructions on his own (future engineer we are thinking at this point!) for each set. So there are 2 big Star Wars sets he has been wanting that he is getting (have you seen the prices of these things!!!) and those 2 things are his big presents. A couple of smaller things like a new leapster game (I refuse to go to Nin DS yet and keep everything educational right now) and other boy type gifts. He gets about 5 or 6 things then his stocking. DH and I only fill each others stockings (only rule is to be creative and no gift certificates) then we open our stuff after midnight on Christmas eve and have a toast, just the two of us .

Delaney got some Blendy Pens as a gift last year, they do not work very well. They work fine as markers, but the "blendy" part, not so much. She likes the Color wonder Markers and pads.

9 yr old Katerina is easy......she wants EVERYTHING
Her "list" is already 25-30 pages long, with descriptions and catalog cut out pictures.....so ignorant parents won't buy the wrong stuff Of course, she also wants her Elf to visit. If you haven't heard of this phenomenon, do a web search.....its fun for both child and parents. The elf (stuffed elf-looking person) gets magic dust sprinkled on him/her before bed and comes to "life" at night, sometimes bringing small gifts, or causing mischief. 3 year old Svetlana just wants to talk to Santa.....she's still an innocent sweetie We think it might be bicycle time ![]()

My dd's birthday is on Halloween and this weekend we will probably go to Toys R Us for her. I first have to figure out her birthday wishes before we think of the holiday season.
