Sibling In Baby Home- Vladimir Region

Just rec'd a call from my son's sisters on the East Coast. Babushka has written and little brother born after the adoptions has been placed in a baby home.

I have contacted the two agencies working in the region and neither are sure they can help us find and adopt "little brother".

I have been a busy mother of 5 for the past few years and have lost touch re: how Russian adoptions are going let alone an identified adoption of a sibling. The govt agency in Russia did NOT contact me re: little brother.

Has anyone heard of a successful adoption of a sibling 4, almost 5 years after an adoption?

I do not know how long he has been there or what home he is in. He is in the Vladimir Region.

Does anyone have ideas?

I really need some positive thoughts people. I have no idea how I'm going to pull this off.

Nor do I, but I am praying for you and for that little brother you need to bring home. God help your family.

I know that my son has two possible blood siblings somewhere in this big world, as his bio mom had two live births before my son was born. I think about those children all the time and hope they are OK.

The best of luck!!!!

By the way, how did you manage to swing any contact at all with the bio family? Russia is so closed that when I suggested trying to find the bio mom of my son at some point in the future, I got a very strong response of "NO, please don't do that!" The reason being that it could jepardize the already fragile relationship US has with Russia concerning adoption.

I am not sure what to do in terms of beginning the adoption process there. Maybe you could start with the one of the searchers who can contact the baby home staff or MOE. I know that the group I used many times starts their searchers directly with them and quite a few people have contact with sibs still in orphanages. Maybe that inquiry could help you find out if he is available for adoption, how long he has been on registry, that type of info. Are there only two agencies in that region? Maybe you could also contact the well known russian atty, Irina ORear and see what she has to say.

NGwinn, many people search and have contact with birthfamilies. I have also heard that statement before but really have never heard any instance where it has jeopardize a particular adoption?
We searched and have relationships with both of our boys families. Mainly thru letters and email, but I did have a phone coversation twice with our oldest's bmom.
I remain concerned re our youngest sibs, and hope that if a situation arose we would be able to help.

Best wishes!
