So when does school get out where you are? Here the 28th is the last day, and we start back up towards the end of August, except my older boys in band, they start back in mid July.

Starts back on Aug 19th.

We get out around June 18, go back first week of Sept.

August is prime vacation month here. No school for us.

Here in Michigan there is actually a law that school can not start until after Labor Day so this school year we started Sept. 3rd and get out June 11th.

With Labor Day so late this year we won't go back until Sept. 8th.

We have that law in Texas too, but they have yet to enforce it, the schools can get waivers and all seem to every year.

That is interesting! It has only been the law here a couple years, but it seems to be enforced. Though we have never started very early anyway. Always after Labor Day when I was a kid and then eventually some schools started going back the last week of August. (The point behind it was to promote state tourism through the Labor Day weekend.)

My kids are on traditional calendar - our school district does year round school for most elementaries...but we hit the jackpot and all my kids are on the same schedule (at least for one more year). We get out on May 27 and go back on August 10. For year round the last day is June 26 and they go back July 6.

We get out June 4th this year (the latest they ever have) and due to this new law about not starting school X number of days before Labor Day (can't remember what X is) they don't go back until August 24th. Eleven weeks of summer vacation = way too many $$$ for camp for us working families...

It's the amusement parks that have lobbied so hard in Texas for school not to start until after Labor Day. If you live in a state with that kind of industry - their lobbyists are busy trying to extend their season.

My kids are year round. Their track gets out May 29th and we'll start again July 6th.

My oldest though will be off until Aug since he'll be in middle school.

They get out the first week of June and go back the last week of August here. Adrian is so ready for school to be done (me too!!!).

In Montgomery County, Maryland, the schools let out for the summer on June 16, this year. Kids go back to school on August 31.

Wooh! I didn't realise you all got out of school so early or that you had such long summer holidays. Having said that, in Spain we had much longer summer holidays than England.

Lets see, we have half term next week for one week, then back to school until July 10th which is when we break for summer. Not sure when school starts back but will be the last few days of August or very beginning of September.

Spain was great in the summer because we had summer camps everywhere and very reasonable prices. Antonina used to finish school on the Friday and be in summer camp by Monday whereas England will be different. Holiday activities here seem to be hours that don't suit the regular working mum!
