Picture Parade: Kids dressing themselves
My dd is 4.5 and has to wear uniforms to school every day. On the weekends she loves getting up first thing and dressing in the clothes of her choice. Some of her ensembles have been very interesting, so I thought it would be fun to share pictures of our kiddos picking out their own clothes, including superheroes, dress up and make up, whatever they enjoy doing to play or get dressed. Join in!

My DD is beyond that stage. Though my 8 year old loves to dress up in costumes. He hates his pictures taken in them though.
Now, dd is in the stage where we will be going somewhere and she will come out with "Mom, I can't beleive you are going to wear that!"

Tigger44 - love the outfits! She's adorable!
My ds hasn't gotten the hang of dressing himself yet (2.5). But he does add accessories to his outfits. Sorry this is the closest we come.

You are SO nice...I'm so anal...never let the kids pick out their own clothes until they were older. But, they dress up in homemade costumes alot. Here are a few:

Isabella doesn't completely dress herself but she assuredly knows what she wants to wear. Yesterday she picked out her new blue jean shorts over her pink ballet tights, a long sleeved pink t-shirt and that is her oldest, ripped Dora nightgown on top. (she refuses to part with it)
She took the shoes off but the ensemble was rounded out with her bright pink summer sandals. She was stunning at pre school. Last edited by mcanvasback : 04-17-2009 at 05:35 AM. |

She looks adorable! And I have to give you a super mom badge for letting her wear what ever she wants. What a great mom to let her express herself however she wants.

Kids are funny thinking what looks good together....its really mostly what they like!
This pic is from Sept. 2007, we were going to go play outside, I told her to go upsatirs and get some shorts on, because in CA in Sept, it's still 80 degrees outside..... this was the result of letting a 2.5 year old dress themselves.....now, she actually tries to match her colors, but last night came down in footie pjs! (it's been warm here!) It was funny when she first came home, she always wanted to put a jacket on when we went outside...that's what they did in the BH, right?.....that faded away very quickly becasue we came home in Aug to 100 degree weather!! At least she was ready for a flood...or snow!

Christina, I think the fact that they are so cool with it at her preschool helps me let it gooooooo - they say "if they want to wear pajamas (tutus, summer clothes, princess dresses, etc) let 'em!" They have seen it all. Meanwhile, I am loooking at this pic I just posted going "I cannot believe I let her leave the house like that!" |
