Question about finances in court
Hello All,
For anyone who has gone to court recently in Russia, how strict were they on finances? Obviously I qualify as far as my agency is concerned, but I have heard some people say that they had to prove they had $1000 left every month after major bills or assent vs liability. I don't have quite $1000, but I do have a good amount saved. I am just curious what have been peoples' experiences lately in court. Thanks!

I signed with my agency in November 2008 I started my homestudy in December 2008 I sent in my I-600A in January 2009 I started my dossier in the middle-end of January 2009 I had my last Homestudy Meeting February 9th 2009 I got fingerprints for I-600A done on February 10th 2009 I am done with my dossier paperwork. The only thing I am waiting for is my I-600A approval in the mail and then I am done! I handed in my dossier to my agency on June 17, 2009 but one thing had to be redone so it was officially complete on July 14, 2009. Let the waiting begin!

Its been almost a year for us, but we were never asked any questions in court about our finances. We submitted the financial statement that was asked for, but during court the only question that came close to finances was that we would treat our children equal when it came to inheritance. I haven't heard anything about having a set amount of extra income monthly being asked about at all. This is my personal experience, as far as other regions I could not say. Each judge/region will specify what information they need once you find out the region you will be adopting from.
Congratulations on starting your exciting journey!

My expereince my be outdated, Aug 06, but even as single parent, I was not asked any financial questions in court at all. The judge read most of the homestudy out loud and repeated my income, but that's it. Before court I was asked for the Deed of Trust to my house which supposed to show how much it was worth.

I just had court two weeks ago and I was not asked about finances during court either. At least nothing in details. The judge just asked me if I was able to support two special needs children.

We were not asked about finances in court but we were grilled at our dining room table by the SW during the home study.

I had court in Vladivostok on 3/10/09. Finances are a BIG concern of theirs right now -- they are very up on the crisis situation.
Basically they read over my financial statement and said it showed that I was financially stable enough to support myself and a child but what was my back up plan?? The other question was about my mortgage - how long into was I etc. |

Had court in December - we were asked how the changes in the economy affected us and most importantly our jobs. My husband had to field that one.
We just reassured them that our jobs are secure and our company is strong. That was all they wanted to know.
