Happy 5th Adoption Anniversary!!!
Five years ago…we were getting ready to fly home from Moscow with our new son…8 month old Alexander…little did we now how all of our lives were about to change. These past five years have been…well just a bit of everything…we sank to the darkest depths of despair…we’ve cried tears of joy, sadness, anger, and relief…we climbed to the top of the mountain. We had our share of good news and bad as well…some days were so very long and others have slipped away much too quickly. My skinny, bright blue eyed, white blond ringlet haired infant has grown into an almost six year old skinny, bright blue eyed, dark blond straight haired little boy…my once terrified baby is now a happy and loving lil’ man. The child I thought I would teach so much to has instead taught me more than I ever believed possible. The child I once struggled to love now holds a piece of my heart so tightly…I love him more than I ever thought possible. The toddler who once tried to push me away now walks up to me for random kisses…he loves to snuggle with the mommy he once bruised.
While we don’t know what will happen at the doctors next week…or what any of the future holds for that matter…we know that we are so blessed to have this child in our lives. We know that he will be all he is capable of being…and probably more. We know that he is a funny, compassionate, sweet, quirky and adorable little boy who is the perfect child for our family. Happy 5th Adoption Anniversary Alex!! Here’s a couple of pictures from 5 years ago…a couple of recent ones…and one I stumbled across from this time…four years ago…my little cool dude!

Karen, congratulations on this milestone (I remember looking at the pictures of you coming home and we were getting ready to go within a few months!) I believe that God put your family together for a reason and that reason is obvious. You have a beautiful family and not every family would have made it through the last 5 years (and I know at times you were not sure how yours would end up) but you did it. Give yourself alot of credit (Yes you
