We adopted from there in 2002. At the time it was very adoption friendly and we didn't run into any problems. I don't know what the current status is there now. When we adopted our son in 2006, we requested Orenburg and after a 6 month wait for a referral we opened it up to other regions and ended up adopting him from Samara. on our trip home in 2006, we did run into a family at the airport that had just adopted from Orenburg and was bringing their child home.

I don't think anything's moving there now. Nothing in Perm, Moscow region or Nizhny either. My agency says Orenburg's been at a standstill since last autumn.

I adopted an adorable and healthy (then) 12 month old boy last May. I know there have been several families with referrals/courtdates in the past 2 months.
