Learning Russian for a 5 year old

Our son is 5 years old and I think he is at a good age to start learning Russian. Does anyone know of any good Russian programs (books, CDs, DvDs) that are geared for younger children. Thank you.
Karen

I heard from a mom that does home schooling. SHe said she uses Rosetta Stone for her children... I don't think it was for Russian... but the concepts for each language are the same. It is a bit pricy though...

Rosetta Stone software is fine. I have had many students coming to me after trying to learn Russian using it, but they were adults. I think it will work better for children. There are pictures and phrases to memorize, they can play practicing their pronunciation. You will definitely need to sit with you child and work together. However, they do not explain anything, it is purely based on memorizing particular phrases.

Here is another good CD to help build vocabulary and learn the words fun way: Amazon.com: Vocabulary Builder - Learn Russian: for Children 4 & up: Software

Before you buy any books and CDs, try to use online resources. This site is excellent, your kid can learn alphabet, study numbers, clothing, play games. You can do it together. It's really fun and interactive: Play these games in Russian.

Get Russian cartoons and songs for your child. This is interesting and fun way to learn the language naturally.
