Russia calling?

Hi to the List,

Happy New Year to all! I hope everyone is doing well.
Earlier I went to the mailbox and I got a letter from Russia addressed to my husband and myself. I can read basic cyrillic(but i dont understand it) and it's from the region where Joanna is from.
Has anyone else ever received a letter like this in the mail? If they tell me that she has a baby brother or sister I will about die! My husband says he doesnt want another kid and I am going back to work part-time.
I will go to a pharmacy nearby later where I know they speak Russian. I am wondering what they want from us.......

Very interesting! Does it look official - like is it typed? If it's handwritten, perhaps it's from a family member???
Keep us posted!

What a mystery! Could it have anything to do with post-placement reports? Please keep us posted!

It's official looking as in typed. My dh is coming home. Im going to drop by a Russian owned drugstore and ask them to do me a favor and translate it.
Ill let you guys know what it is.
I am up to date on my PPR reports(My agency should have sent mine in to Russia by now, it was done in the early fall.)
Thanks,
Amy K, NJ

not what I thought

Thanks for your repsonses. What a headache.
I got the letter translated by a gal who works in a Russian-owned pharmacy in my town.
I handed in my PPR late because we were away on vacation and then our agency was closed for the Jewish New Year.
The letter says that they didnt receive our post placement report.
It wasnt what I thought! LOL>
I left messages for my agency rep, because they are closed for the New Years week.
Thanks for your replies,
Amy K, NJ

Wow...I'm shocked to hear you got a letter - they must be REALLY cracking down. I hope this gets cleared up and doesn't affect your agency - they really should have been more on top of this no matter what holiday came up here!

I'm with kretz... how odd. And yes, they must really be cracking down. Normally, they wouldn't even bother to send a letter, much less directly to the parents. I assume those things were dealt with through the agencies in the past. How fortunate that you had someone who could translate for you. You should respond in English - just to return the favor. :-) Wow!

I know

Hi,

There is an email adddress on the top of the letter(otherwise I dont understand the address at the top). I sent them an email in English telling them I sent it and I am contacting my agency regarding this matter.
I called my agency and emailed them earlier today and it looks like they pretty much took the week off( I dont recall them doing that in the past). I sent it off to be apostilled at my state capital and I heard from my agency once but I left them a message it was on its way there. Otherwise i never heard from my agency again. I assumed that they received it and sent it over.

You never know where the chain could have broken though, it's a far way to Russia. It could have gotten lost in transit.

I remember once receiving a letter from Russia before for some other matter but I dont recall if it was a for a lost PPR. I dont recall in the past having a series of circumstances where I had to hand it in late like this time. Yes I guess they really are cracking down on the PPRS, but I feel they have the right to do so.

Amy,
A friend of mine got a letter just like yours. It was a problem in the region. PPRs had been "misplaced" when a transition took place.

Personally I find it odd that you cannot get in contact with any agency officals. Don't they have ANYONE travelling? I question their work ethics.
