Re-Adoption Complete!

Well, after two years home, I finally did Delaney's re-adoption! My adversion to paperwork after the adoption process was the hold-up....plus, I need deadlines or else...he he!
The judge was so nice (Delaney nicknamed him "Judgie") and gave Delaney a teddy bear and a balloon and let her sign her name on the part where the form would have an older child sign and then when he said he declared approval of the adoption, Delaney exclaimed, "You get to be my Mommy all the days?!!?" with great excitement!

So, later when I asked her if she understood what the judge had said, she said we were together forever! Then I mentioned, he also said you had to listen to Mommy and be good for me....her eyes opened wide and she said, "I didn't hear him say that part!!!"

We celebrated with breakfast at IHOP and then headed over to a little amusement park we have that for little kids. When I asked her if she had a good day she said yes and, "I'm so happy we are together all the days and forever!" I am so lucky to have this child !!

Congratulations! And how nice that Delaney is old enough to have understood what was going on!

I remember when I did Alivia's adoption confirmation hearing--the judge pronounced us a family and 14-month old Alivia, who had been sitting quietly in my lap ignoring everything, suddenly started blowing kisses to everyone in chambers. It was too cute!

So nice! We recently completed ours as well - but didn't have to go to court! I just got their CO birth certificates - it all feels complete now! She is a darling little girl...and SO smart!

We had a nice readoption day, like yours. It is so great when the judge makes it special. We have Clifford the big red dog and the judge showed C all of his toys that were motorized, before starting the hearing.

He keeps a picture of every child he ever heard for an adoption case. He had a shelf filled with the photo albums.

We went to the diner and had pancakes.

I am so glad that it was a special day!

Thanks all !! All my feelings I had the day in court in Russia came flooding back. Except this time I felt free to express emotion and joke around and show how trully happy I was! I other Mom who had court the same day as me and I hugged and cried in the hallway in the courthouse in Kemerovo, and everyone was staring at us. We finally had dinner that night and were able to really express our feelings. We also celebrated our "last" night without kids!
Waitinginnj ~ glad to hear you had a really nice day with C !! That's really sweet about the judge, I was going to send along a picture to him, he was very sweet to her. We had to sit through him hearing the probate calendar for about 45 minutes, and he was very nice with those proceedings, too.
Congrats on completing yours, too, kretz!!!

Thanks so much for sharing MamaChinch! Looks like a great day. We just opted to get Joanna a NJ birth certificate, but maybe I should do the readoption thing. You all look lovely, and I am sure the day was topped off with great pancakes!

Sending you a great big huggie from Florida! I was just thinking after I dropped off DS this morning that I need to get on the stick and get the re-adoption handled. You inspire me! CONGRATS! I am tearing up a bit imagining you there. It remains such a highly emotional thing this mommy-hood..... THANK GOD WE DID NOT MISS THIS! IT REALLY IS SO GREAT! Luv ya!

highesthopes ~ You can "Re-adopt" your child in your state, the purpose which is mainly give your child a birth certificate from the state you live in. Some states do not require the re-adoption to get new birth certificate. You do it after you come home, however it is not required. You can use the new birth certificate for school, sports, etc instead of your (one and only original) Russian one.
Your home study agency can help you with it once you do a post-placement report.
(Hope I explained that well !!)
Dix ~ xxoo ~ Yes, a woman is pregnant at work and we were talking and I just told her being a Mom is SOOO great....she seemed somewhat relieved to hear that....not that it's not hard a lot of times!! he he!
