Where do babies come from?

I asked my son one day (age 5) if he knew where babies came from. I was surprised when he quickly replied "Yes". I said "oh really, where?". He promptly replied "RUSSIA".

While sharing this story was told by a friend their son thought his sibling came from the Internet.

Never a dull moment with kids.

Its so funny! DD did this too at about 3.5 years old. We were picking up a baby gift for a shower we were going to. She asked where the baby was and I explained it was still in my friend's tummy. And she said,"and then its going to Russia to be borned." Just matter of fact, not a question. Like that's how babies are born (or in 3 year old lingo, "borned").

I had to explain to her that while some babies are born in Russia most just come out of their Mommy's tummy at the hospital and that was what this friend was doing.

My nine year old this past summer asked me to tell her the truth about this. So I did. Her response was "ewww and you did that twice? No wonder you adopted me and M!"

DS-G asked this question and before I could answer, he said, "I know, I know, the hospital! That is where babies come from." (Turns out one of his classmates, had become a Big Sister over that weekend).

Another funny story to tell. Our Twin Nephews had the chat about where Babies Come from with their Parents. When they were finished telling them, they asked if either of them had any questions. There was only one response from them both: "Ohhhh, that is soooo gross! Now I know why people Adopt!" (out of the mouth of pre-teens)

A couple of weeks ago our 3 year old son came home from daycare and told us that one of his teachers "has a baby in her tummy". He didn't ask any questions or make any more comments so I just left it at that.

Last night I was feeling a little under the weather and just had some tea and toast for dinner. DS asked why I wasn't eating dinner and I said it was because I had a tummyache. He replied "Do you have a baby in your tummy too?" I quickly explained that I just wasn't feeling well and did not have a baby in my tummy.

I was picking up DS from school and a little girl in his class asked me "Do you have a baby in your tummy?" I replied no I don't and she said " Why is your tummy big". Too funny! I wanted to ask her the same thing... tee heee
