I just found some gummy bear fiber to try with my son. Just got it today so it's too early to tell. He is excited as he loves gummy anything.

Had this problem, too. Pineapple was the magic cure--either eating the fruit or drinking the juice worked wonders for softer, easier bowel movements for DS.

We had this to. better know as Anal Sphixnter Syndrom.(sp) They hold their bowel for a power struggle. Went had test performed, x-rays, etc. The doctor gave a gucolmax. Some powder formula to put in his drink. It worked. Now we use Juicy Juice, works wonders on my kiddos! I know it is very frustrating and scary at the same time. Good luck.

My son has had these problems off and on for years - he is now 10. He started drinking DanActive yogurt-type drinks every day in the afternoon and he honestly has not had a problem since. His ped recommended anything with the Probiotics in it (not DanActive specifically). It essentially keeps the system constantly cleaned out.

The plus is that he actually likes as opposed to some of the other alternatives out there...

Good luck!

Well, she does have encopresis. I have given her the Miralax this weekend and 2 pedialax strips and so far nothing since I gave her the enema on Fri night. I'm trying the different advices I received her, and my next trip to the store will be for the pineapple juice. I have no idea what to do now. I can't keep giving her the enemas. I was hoping to get her somewhat loose so she could go, but we'll see what they tell me about her day at school. I now send a little notebook with her so they can let me know about bowel movements.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Barbara

Our bio daughter had issues like this, she was a preemie and has/had low muscle tone in her abdomen, so things don't move along as well as they should.

Most food that start with a P is good for pooping:

peaches
pears
pringles (just kidding )

White grape juice also works well. That is the only juice my kids drink and it keeps them very regular. I agree that you need to "clean out her system" and then work on keeping her regular. Good luck, bowel issues in little kids can be frustrating for them and for you.

Sounds like she needs to see a pediatric gastro dr. Mine had issues like this. The gastro gave a perscription medicine to give her once a day. It is a thick sugar type of product that the body can't process and made her go daily. But, because it was a sugar, it was not a chemical type of solution. I would mix it in her milk or drink in the AM. She took it for 18 months or so and then she outgrew the problem. She was also evaluated for Crones at the time. The symptons are also a symptoms of Crones Disease.

Our daugther had the same problem. The doctor tried everything. It would work for awhile, then stop. By mistake we found that the dipping oil, like you use for bread, works wonders. She loves the dipping oil and bread, so we make sure she has it a couple of times a week, and we have not had any problems for 6 months.
