I am sick over this. We are in between trips and my gut is telling me that this is the end of the line. I hope I am wrong. I'm not a religous person, but I'm down on my knees praying right now.

Attention: to all of you waiting, in between trips, travelling..... This happened in 2004 in between our travels. We had just made it home safely from trip 1 and the two planes went down August 24, 2004. I understand all your fears because we went through it to. You will notice heightened security at all airports and even on the city streets in Moscow. Yet at that time, nor war, hurricane storm or terrorist was going to stop me from picking up my beautiful baby. I was going to take down any terrorist on my plane or in my way. My motto though all of it:
Remember don't mess with a woman who has been taken way too many fertility drugs and was stressed beyond procedures and paperwork. Hang in there guys!

Things will work out. I know it is scary, but things will be okay.

When we adopted in 1999 the there was conflict in Russia at the US Embassy. We traveled about a month and half later. I remember when we had to go to the embassy there was US Marines in front and we were quickly brought inside. This is a decription of what happend in Moscow in March 1999.

Assault on the Serbs: Mortar attack bid on US embassy rocks Moscow | Independent, The (London) | Find Articles at BNET

"SIMMERING PUBLIC fury over Nato's bombing of Yugoslavia erupted into the open in Moscow yesterday when a gunman tried to fire a rocket- propelled grenade at the American embassy, before spraying the building with a machine-gun."

Yelstin was going through his impeach trail while we were in Moscow.

My father would not even look at our son's referral photo since he was 100% sure we were not going. He was absolutely in panic mood when we did travel. My thoughts are with everyone who is waiting. I know it is hard when you are waiting for your child.

Unhappy

My heart sank and I cried all afternoon. We are registered in Astrakhan (which is close to the border in the south) and were expecting to travel very soon. I have already called our agency and they are going to be calling us back. I have had thoughts of changing regions. . . if that would help.

Let's all keep sharing information and hope for the best.

I think this will mainly impact the regions the closest to the fighting. That is unless the US tries to intervene. At one time, we were looking into Azerbajin. To do that you have to go through the embassy in Georgia. I would think adoptions from there have pretty much stopped.

can I tell you that I feel like it is hurdle after hurdle but ANd this is just one more. But, even when I was on my first trip the news Russia was putting out was that Georgia did not have a chance. ANd Not for nothing it is a pretty small country, none of teh countries over there have a lot of money. I just do not forsee this lasting long. AS long as the US keeps to its self! God willing.
Lets all pray together. OK

I was just brought to tears earlier when I saw this on the news. It seems to be just one thing after another....

Hey guys! We're home and let me tell you...we didn't find this out until we arrived in Atlanta yesterday afternoon, however while in Moscow there were terrorists ALL OVER THE AIRPORT! I'm telling you...we were terrified! We monitored every single person checking in to get on our plane and we were totally not going to board if one single suspicous person was on there.

We are FREAKING out that we will not be able to go back in five days to pick up the kiddos after the wait. I am SO sick over this. The US is already getting involved, according to what I'm reading - at this time just urging Russia to withdraw. The US HAS to stay out of it...I'm so worried. I agree...let's all pray together because this could potentially be the end of it all.

Our region is nowhere near Georgia, however we still have to deal with the Moscow stuff for several days. SCARY!!! We are VERY seriously considering changing our MOW flight to JFK to a safer destination like Finland, and then on to the US.

Anyhow...exhausted. We've been home for 19 hours now, happy as can be, but so worried now...

I'll be back during the week.
xoxoxo
Love and prayers to all...

Honestly.... I think all travelers are going to be fine! When I was going through the process... there where acts of terrorism (2 blocks from my hotel, 4 days before I checked in!!!), and the war in Chechnneya (sp?) was full throttle, and I was fine! Yes, increased security, but I had expected that at the airport, etc. from all I was told ahead of time. Yes, I was nervous while in country, but all I wanted to do was get my daughter, that soon I didn't worry. I still did the tourist stuff, and all was fine.

My dear friend is traveling on the 23rd, and we just found out that it is to the Moscow Region.... (it was between Vladakavkaz (North Ossetia) or Moscow Region. We are both relieved that it is Moscow.... I believe that the only impacts would be to the Region (bordering the fighting) would be impacted.

Blessings to ALL......

Let me chime in and let everyone know that there were many rumors in 2005 that Russia was going to close because of Russian children being murdered by their American adopted parents. It didnt happen of course but we were feeling terrified like many of you are now. It is just one of many hurdles we all encounter is this process.Hang in there and you are all in our prayers!!

Hang in there guys! There is a lot of political posturing, but no one is going to be keen to initiate major US conflict with the Russians in an election year!! Yes, we are allies of Georgia, but the US also considers the bigger and more strategically important Russia to be an ally. The involved area in Georgia is tiny (but grants Russia access to important ports), and is populated by ethnic Russians. Right or wrong, the Russians will not likely take more than strong words and encouragement for negotiations from this country... I seriously doubt there will be any impact to the adoption process unless the situation should escalate beyond Georgia. That said, my prayers are with the people in harm's way...

Try not to worry. As other's have said, there always seems to be something in the news that makes PAPs shiver! It will work out!

My thoughts are with everyone waiting for a referral and coming home. I really dont know, but my guess would be that if there's an issue, they would stop new folks from adopting, I would doubt that folks in the middle of the process would be hung up. Again this is speculation on my part and I have no scientific fact to back it up. I feel for the folks in Georgia and all of the adoptive parents at this time.
