Okay, I just need to vent....we had our thrid post-placement visit last month, July 8th to be exact. Although the SW was very nice (not the same one as previously) she was an hour late for the visit (she called), but by the time she left, we did not have dinner and now it's 8 pm and I usually get Delaney down by 8-8:30 pm.
We are also are leaving on vacation July 20th. I finally get the SW to send me the report for my review just a few days before leaving, and I thought I would be able to go get it apostilled beofre we left.
Well, the week of July 21st, my agency CW reviews it and sends it back to her. I am thinking, okay, I have time when get back for me to take care of it all and get it to my agency by the date needed, which is Friday.
Todaye, I still dont' have the report! I called my home study agency and they said it still getting revised! I am really p-o'ed and what do I do now? I told the woman at the HS agency that I need to go get it apostilled and now Fed-Ex by Friday, but they still need to notarize it and send it to me!
Every other report was done within the week of the visit!!!! I am just back from vacation this at work and will now have to find some time to go to the Sec of State, if I get it and well...you know the ritual.....I am just really upset that's its taken this long, I called last week, too about it !!!
Also, I want to tell the director about how late the SW was, tactfully, too.....and that I do not want her next time.
Most importantly, I do no want to jeopordize anything Russian policies! UGH!!! okay, just had to get that out.......what will happen it it's late?

My sec of state had "lost" our document for a little bit and I was freaking out. Our agency sent off the email version for translation to get the ball rolling and to Russia just to cover our butts and once the whole appostilled original came it was sent.
I was definitely stressed but it all worked out

A similar thing happened to us for our first post-placement. Our social worker took forever to write up the report and got it to our agency late (after the due date). I was completely freaked out! What I was told, however, is that technically we have 30 days after the adoption anniversary to get the report to the MOE. So I think my agency made up some time and got it to Russia by the final deadline. (I'm now using a different social worker).

Can you call your agency and tell them what's going on? Hopefully that will put your mind at ease.

Thanks, Daisy and Kasey. I just talked to my CW at my agency as well as the director of the HS agency, and I wasn't very nice to her. My CW said all should be fine as long as they get it this week, and the HS director said I should have called her sooner. Well, I am sorry, I thought the SW was doing her job! Plus, what happened to my call last week? Anwyay, she said this was a problem and would need to speak to the SW about it. I also mentioned that the SW was over an hour late and she was not happy about that either! So.....I still dont 'know when I will have my report!

My understanding is that we have 30 days from the PPR date to have the report to them. Not that I would want to be late, but we've had issues with our SW not feeling the same urgency we did to get these reports in on time and then were told about the 30 day window.
Also, our agency emailed them copies of the documentation before sending out the notarized hard copies.

I know its frustrating! Its good that we feel this sense of urgency and light a fire under these SWers who do not get it!

I can't believe you now have to have your PPRs apostilled. I mean, I really can, it's just overwhelming. What's next? A DNA sample with each page? We got through two Russian adoptions (98 & 04) without having to apostille the first document. I'm sure someone did - it just never fell in our lap to have to do. You guys who are making it through this red tape circus should know you - at some point - will be in line for sainthood. You must have the patience of Job. Sorry they're giving you the run around, but you can only do the best you can do.

Our last PPR for DS was very late due to our agency and facilitator going out of business...and it was an awful feeling. I hope everything works out for you.

Yes, Karen, it is done and on the way! They sent a courier to have it apostilled for me and Fed-Exed it to the agency. It was really because of the SW, but I should not have had to worry about this. All is well and done and one more to do next year!
