Volsk Children's Home

Has anyone been in or seen the Volsk Children's Home since - say - 2005? Our son lived at the old Volsk home and they were moving into the new facility shortly after we adopted him. I'm just curious about how others reacted to this new facility. DH took a tour before the move with the director, and our coordinator and it was amazing. Everything was brand new - except the building itself - which had been newly renovated. Dr. Yuri spent a boatload of money creating a sensory integration room, that had fiber optics, texture play areas, a reading well, etc. I really wish DS had had the opportunity to have lived there during his first couple of years. But at least it's a giant leap in the right direction. Anyone else run across similar facilities in other areas?

my daughter Laina was there and I brought her home in Dec 2005. Yes, it was very nice and the sensory room is nice ( I have pictures but can't be uploaded) I only saw entry and visitor room and sensory room they wouldnot let us anywhere else. Outside play area was very nice too.

Still smelled like cabbage thought ;-)

Luckily, I suppose, DH toured before the kitchen got set up. :-) I was just wondering how things came together after they got moved in and if there were other facilities out there that were equally as nice. We readily hear of near squalid conditions, but seldom hear of some of the great work that's being done with respect to facilities. So glad your daughter was able to live there until you came for her. Thanks for the update.
