last may... 2007
it was one year ago this week that we took our first trip to samara to meet two little girls. i had an iron wall built up around my heart, after two years earlier having met and fallen in love with and then losing the two sons of my heart.
here are pix from that first trip, and pix taken this month. the first is kate with her caregiver.

they are 2-and-a-half years old. they are six days apart in age and have been together in the same baby home and same group since age one month. we are soooooo incredibly thrilled they permitted them to be adopted together even tho they were not biologically related. we're so glad they could find their new family together, and that we get to be that family.

Time sure does fly by! May is a special month for us as well. WE received our referral on Mothers Day. Nice to see votedad! The man behind the legend! Congrats VM! The girls ar adorable! Love the snow suit in May. DS had one too! and a hat and gloves and boots....

Who knew two years ago these little girls would come along to melt the iron walls, even though I'm sure you will always ache for the two sons of your heart.

Two boys (5 and 7) Feb 05 to Aug 06 unsuccessful in Russia August 06, changing countries (paperchasing) Oct 06 dossier sent to agency Nov 06 dossier made it through the Embassy, now it's on its way to Kaz!! Dec 06 dossier at the first Ministry (MFA) Jan 06 dossier now at second Ministry (MOE) One more to go.....that's the regional one Still hoping for LOI (letter of invitation) in Jan Jan 31---dossier still at MOE, no LOI in Jan  Feb 16--We know our region--Karaganda Kaz. Last step in the process--wait for LOI March 15 07--received LOI Left for Kaz March 21 Paperwork glitch but decided to stay while it was handled (hence the long time between leaving for trip and court) Court May22, 2007

Your girls were, and are so beautiful. You certainly had one of the more difficult journeys - while I know you will always hold your two sweet boys dear in your heart, I'm so glad that these precious girls are bringing you much joy.
