DD will be in a different class in the fall at pre-school and the time is funny.... 1pm to 3:30pm. Which is just about her nap time! She will go three days a week, but will be off in July and August. At this point, 3 1/4 years, she still really needs her nap. She will be 3 1/2 when school starts.
what's the best way to tranisiton her to this new schedule? Should I try to just eliminate her naps ( ) or can I successfully transition her naps to a earlier time? Like 11-12:30? Usually she goes down between 12 and 1 and sleeps about 2 hours. She does sleep less sometimes...but not always.I am excited for her to be in this class and hoping the schedule change with her will be okay. She can completly loose it without a nap on some days!

Maybe you can try putting her to bed earlier in the evening to see if she'll sleep longer during the night, and then not need a nap. Or put her to bed earlier, wake her up earlier in the morning, and then put her down for an earlier nap. Might be worth trying this summer just to see what happens. My kids are both about 4 years old, and still need afternoon naps, so if it were me, an afternoon preschool schedule would be a deal-breaker. They go to preschool 3 mornings a week, and it wears them out, so I can't imagine them going to school in the afternoon during their usual nap time. But other kids I know that are their age don't seem to need naps at all anymore. So who knows? -- You may find that your daughter does just fine in afternoon preschool, even without a nap. Good luck to you!

We just dropped it, avoided long car rides during peak sleep times (1-4pm) and put him to bed early. Prepare for super cranky between 5-7pm and be prepared for a big fuss-pot.
It was hard to let go of that private time (the nap) for myself, but DS going to bed early is great too. Lots of time in the evening. Now that the nap is gone, I get lots of errands done with him in tow and we can do fun activities during the day.

Over Christmas Holiday, we tried to keep them up throughout the day as I knew once they started Kindergarten in Jan, they were starting full time and would be w/o naps.
Once they started Kindergarten, they spent the first week getting adjusted to all that and no naps. Needless to say the first few weeks was trying for all. About week 3 - 4 ish, all settled down and they were good to go. Good Luck ![]()

One of my sons did afternoon preschool, what we did was move his nap to after school, he slept from 3:30-5:30 that gave me some after school time with his brother to do his homework without little brother helping and also to cook dinner without help. LOL We woke him a little before dinner time. He stayed up a little later than he had previously and he slept in a little later in the mornings, so I guess we just moved his whole schedule forward a bit. To move the nap earlier you might have to get her to bed and then up in the morning earlier.

My little darling gave up naps at about 3 and a half. He still takes a quiet time in his room, but can get by without it. A lot can change in a couple of months!
