Potty Training Success!

No more diapers! (Well, except for at night for the time being.) Peter turned 3 in February and we've been encouraging him since January and finally we have success! He went all day yesterday without an accident and so far so good, today.

Here's my new theory on potty training. . . take them on an airplane! LOL! It worked for both of my kids. When my dd was 2 1/2, we took a trip to see family and on the way home she wanted to use the airplane bathroom; the next week she was trained! We just took a trip last week to see family, and Peter used the airplane toilet three times on the way home! And now success!

Now, I have one question: at what point do you teach boys to go standing up?

Liz

Congratraulations on the potty training success.

I will be interested in others responses to your question.

My boys are both in 1st grade and they have a Dad in the home to observe but they prefer to sit on the toilet.

I was wondering if this is just a new trend for boys.

My cousin's little boy is just a bit older than my DD, 3, and she started showing him to stand when she was training him. She had him stand on a little stool so he could "reach".
Congrats on the potty training success!!! Such a relief! Good job Peter!

Congratulations! It's a great feeling isn't it?!! We are officially diaper free (night and day) as of Friday night. It's so liberating (and a little sad that DS is growing up so fast.)

Congratulations!! I know that is a terrific feeling for all!

Both the Boys were PT just after their 4th Birthday. Pull-ups at night until 2 weeks ago.

As for standing up:

For DS-L, about a month ago. Daddy showed him and its been that way ever since. Age 4 yrs 8 mo.

For DS-G, Two weeks ago, while at Disneyland Resort-Paris. DH showed them and it has been that way every since. Age 4 yrs 9 mo.

Aim is key - DH reminded them about aiming. Also if they spill they clean it up. It happened once for both and not since.

Again Congratulations.

COngrats! DS likes to sit sometimes but will go standing up when out and a lot of the time at home. Technically its better for their prostate to sit but standing is what big boys do. DS watches daddy and he likes to be like daddy so who knows. Whatever works. I think you have to get them going to the potty when they feel the urge then take it from there. First get them tehere then work on technique.

CONGRATS!! It is so exciting when it finally clicks.

As for standning, it took two times watching daddy and he wanted to do it that way.
