Interesting Videos on Russia on NBC tonite...

Just interesting for those of us who have or will adopt from Russia in the future. For some reason I can not direct link the videos but there are TWO at MSNBC - Front Page
1.) Medical Train fights depopulation in Russia
2.) Inside Russias medical train

Thank you Karen, I've just watched the video's. I'll never forget when I told a friends Russian wife that I adopted Antonina from Kamchatka. Her mouth dropped open and she told me that so far eastern Russia is regarded as the forgotten Russia!

Thanks for the link. It helps to know what we will be going into. Saw an article in my local paper (Asbury Park Press) Russia's Birth Rate on the Rise? It focused on Moscow. Anyone Else see anything like it? It was an AP article. Thanks again. Great stuff. Keeps people thinking and aware of what is happening?

I saw that artical too about the "babyboom" in Russia... I dont know what to make of all of this! Is the population increasing or decresing? That medical train is a really unique idea but Im cold just watching that video!

Russia has a severely declining population. This is often used as a fight against IA.

Population Decline in Russia

BBC NEWS | Europe | Russia's population falling fast

Russians offered day off, prizes to procreate - Russia - MSNBC.com

STLtoday - Russian baby boom slows population decline

Quote:
The population decline hasn't halted, and demographers warn it could plummet again. But today births are on the rise, from 1.4 million in 2006 to 1.6 million in 2007 — their highest level in 15 years.

Quote:
Some experts have estimated that the number of Russians could fall below 100 million by 2050, making one of the world's most sparsely populated countries even more so and — some fear — threatening its very existence.
