News Tuesday Topic: What drives you nuts

What drives you nuts about the adoption process?

For me its the fact that when you adopt again you have to do everything all over again, don't they keep your birth certificate and your fingerprints on file somewhere?

LOL! You'd think they would keep those on file.

For me, it's just feeling so out of control of everything.

Yep - the fingerprint thing. I am pretty sure that it's a basic fact that your darn fingerprints can't change - maybe a small fee to re-run your criminal check...but why the ink over and over and over! We now have to do it 2 more times to re-adopt...that's why I haven't done it yet...I'm revolting!

Oh the fingerprints and the out of control feelings are crazy. And the unknown itself. How long will it be the next time.

I think they had stopped it, but the idea of getting the doctor's medicals and the police fingerprints updated every 3 mo. drove me nuts! I think it was inconvenient for them too!

1. Seeing coworkers get paid maternity leave while at the same time I was working two jobs to save money for my UNPAID time off after the adoption.
2. Not being able to use the STORK parking spot
3. Seeing coworkers use sick time for their doctor appointments, while I had to make up my time to run here or their to get the needed documents.

For me it was FRIDAYS. --Knowing that we would have to wait the entire weekend just wondering what was happening with our case. I hated Fridays. I would call the agency right before they closed every Friday and first thing when they opened on Monday. I knew I drove them crazy, but I just couldn't help it.

Definitely the three-month updates on medical and criminal backgrounds - and having to explain to the same gal at the police station - yes, it needs an actual signature, no, a stamped signature will not do, really, JUST LIKE LAST TIME ... and yes it does need to be notarized ... phew feel better already.

I'm with the others...it's frustrating when we don't get maternity benefits like everyone else!

One other thing (as long as I'm venting)...and this is not necessarily about the process itself, but it drove me nuts that when I told people we were adding to our family through adoption, I got very few "Congratulations!" More of the responses I got were along the lines of..."Why? Oh, that's interesting! Why Russia? " etc.

FEAR... I hate it when I freak-out and get all worried!
It is so unproductive.

yep, everyone would ask during our second adoption if we were "fast tracked," it frustrates me that it doesn't work that way.

I also personally hate the medicals. I test borderline positive to TB (I'm just sensitive to the test, not actually exposed, I react to everything) and I panic every time that I'll be over the measurement line.
Never has happened but causes undo anxiety every time.

Adoption process related mail being delivered after agency closing time on Fiday, requiring an over-the-weekend wait to ask questions.
