I can not believe it, but we are going to go back for number 3. After having 2 very smooth adoptions in Samara, I am not sure what to expect this time, as it will be 3 years after our last adoption in 2005. Our daugher is 3 1/2 and our son is 4 1/2. We are looking to adopt a 6-8 year old.
I am looking for any advice from those of you who have adopted older children, the good and bad. I have read so many posts in the past almost 5 years, but many were not pertinent at the time. We are in the very beginning stages and will not start the process until the start of 2008 (which is not that far away). One option we are considering is a hosting program, found one agency who is still doing that. I will be contacting agencies over the next month, as ours no longer facilitates adoptions in Russia. If you worked w/ a good agency and adopted an older child, please PM me. Thanking you in advance. Cheryl

Don'thave time to chat now but we've done nothing but older child adoptions. 7 total. Ask away. Write me privately as I have a ton of info for you. What are you looking for...boy/girl? I know of many available. Older kids, that is 4 & older are so much harder to place just based on age. So much to say but have some paperwork to do tonight. Write me privately, give me a day or two to get back to you and I'll fill you w/ more info than you want---LOL.
Take care,

All the best to you...I have no expereince in an older child adoption but tons of experience with PI issues that can be more common in older children. My biggest suggestion is to research disrupting birth order...especially because you have two much younger children already in the home. There are some other sites that have more info on older child adoptions...I'll pm you those. Plus the general special needs adoption board here is a wealth of information on this subject.
Good luck.

no advice here. i think it's always great when people consider an older child.
like karen suggested, i would definitely do research on the birth order thing.
