Anyone want to adopt again from Russia but cant???
I am just wondering if anyone who successfully adopted from Russia and wanted to cant because of the changes in adoption.
For example. I have a medical condition which is fairly common, however the judge had a problem with it. I needed doctors letters to convince her that it would not interfere with parenting. I hear now, that Russia is becoming very strict on any kinds of health issue. Also, it seems like the income level has gone up. We also submitted my husband's income with an employment letter but the judge wanted MY income from the last 2 years prior to the adoption also. I have heard that you have to be a certain percentage above the poverty level in order to adopt. I don't think we would qualify this time around.

I dont have that issue, but I am afraid to adopt again from Russia. Our baby has no real attachment issues nor health issues. I dont think I would get lucky again. Unfortunately it was hard but we turned down several referrals before we accepted our baby. I couldnt emotinoally go through that again.

We are in process bu ton "HOLD" for number 2 by choice. We want Russia for a lot of the same reasons we chose it the first time. The length of process is what is most frustrating for me. I go back and forth on what to do. The cost is prohibitive for any IA so either country you choose id going to be expensive. Despite my challenges with DS behavior now, for all intensive purposes, he is totally healthy in all areas. Would I be that lucky a second time??? Who knows? We will not start our second process until after the new year and time will tell. I just remind myself that its ok to turn down a referral in country if it does not feel right. Trust God, File the forms and giddy up n go... I guess.

I just don't want to go to Russia again....
With the emotional, medical, attachment issues that I read on the other chat board - I feel SOOOOOO lucky that even with the loads of issues we have had with our son - after 3 yrs we are really lucky to be in the place we are with him. He is still delayed in a lot of areas - but he is showing attachment finally finally finally....it has been a long hard road.
I am just so scared that if we did that again - we wouldn't have the time needed to work on ALLLLLLLLL of the issues that another one would most likely have. I have been hearing that since alot of Russians are adopting, that the kids being offered have many problems....they are offering those kids to foreigners...very scary these days... |

I always have said that had we been given the option of adpoting two at once (yes, it was checked as an option) I would have done so. Now with the cost, our age (45 & 52) and challenges of paperwork I'm very happy with one.
In the course of conversations with people regarding adoption I do say that if circumstances were in line and somesort of adoption fell into our lap I would do it again. **Beckyww: I agree! LOL

My Russian daughter, is the light of my life. If I were to adopt again, (I would love to, but we really can't afford it, and dh is not ready to yet) I would have to choose a different country, simply becuase of the cost and the travel. It would be too hard to find someone to watch 4 kids. So I would have to find a country that would allow only one parent to travel, or one very short trip, or would escort. I would for sure adopt another limb different kid. I am actually interested in one in Haiti, but have not talked dh into it, or figured out how to pay for it. LOL

Cruising dimly lit convenience stores...
....with a ski mask in hand and really good running shoes on my flying feet....because that's the only way I can think of that we could possibly get enough money to do this again!

Going Again`
We spent almost two years in the process for our daughter and then had our son home 13 months later. We have had incredible luck that both our kids are healthy, well adjusted and happy. Our daughter is delayed in talking but aside from that, no problems at all. I would do it all again in a second and in Russia - unfortunately, after two kids and six trips to Russia within about a year, we will not be retiring until we are about 104 as it is. After spending 20 years trying to accept infertility, two years to bring home my children is time well spent. If I win the lottery, I will be back in the waiting game again!

Personally I am going with hoping for a safe to fall from the sky into my backyard to pay for the next adoption. LOL
Either that or winning the lottery, though of course for that I suppose I would have to actually buy a ticket!

We are circling the wagons around our options for #2. Until a month ago I was sure we'd return to Russia. As previous posters have stated, the current situation with the rumors of less children available and even less infant girls (we want to keep the same gender, since I can't imagine life without my sisters), it scares me.
We got extremely lucky the first time around, but I think God gives you the child that you are meant to parent, so that doesn't scare me so much. The travel and leaving my girl - now that sends me running ofr the hills.
