Temperature Regulation
My 4 yr old DS who has been home for 3 1/2 yrs always seem to get easily chilled in pools/ocean. Its weird though as during the winter he is never cold! Sometimes he is shivering so much when at the ocean even though every other person is fine. He is very skinny but otherwise is ok physically. Has anyone else had this issue?

Well my skinny guy will put on sweat pants when it is 90 out. He gets cold in an 85 degree pool too. I would guess it is probably related to not having too much body fat.

Yep, I would agree it is more of a lack of body fat issue. Also, especially in little ones, the heat makes them sweat to cool off and then they go into cold water and since their bodies have already "cooled them off" then they become too chilled.
Also, I am "one of those" who is a big wimp when it comes to the ocean/pool. I have to go into slowly and "get used to it". If he was spiking temps or having other problems with temperature regulation besides these water issues, then maybe i would run it by my pediatrician. But I really don't think it is anyhing to be alarmed about.

My little guy has trouble with this too. He gets cold every time we swim because he has absolutely no body fat. The thing is he hates to eat and so is underweight. No fat at all. He has the other problem with overheating because he has less skin than a normal kid (missing three limbs) to sweat and evaporate heat from. So he has trouble in any extreme of temperature. LOL We are going to get him a wetsuit for next year to swim in.
