Hello!

Our very sweet DD came home to us from the Moscow City Region 2 years ago next month, and our bio daughter was born 3 weeks later. We are now considering starting this craziness again! We had a terrible time of things with Emma's adoption, but it was all worth it because it led to her. We are considering Guatemala and Russia. Basically, I would like some information on good regions, but most importantly some PM's about agencies. Our first agency is now bankrupt and facing criminal charges for embezzlement, so we are a little gunshy.

I am attaching a before and after of our sweet Emma. The before is our first day with her and the other is a recent pic. Hope this helps those waiting......its so worth it!!!

Your Emma is amazing! No wonder you're thinking about coming back. If I were you, I'd wait to make a decision about country choice until we see how this accreditation mess shakes down and see what's happening in Guat. Isn't it pretty uncertain there right now as well?

Emma is a doll. I have no idea what agencies are still processing adoptions but frua.org does have some current info.

Check out the Guatemalan forums here as well as Guat.adopt for their curtrent situation...but know that our govenment does not reccommend starting a Guatemalan adoption at this point due to Hague concerns.

Emma is beautiful!

We still hope to go back and have been kind of waiting out the agency issues to start paperwork. There are 4 or 5 still processing independantly, but I know they are all really back logged now since they are the only ones moving forward.

We must have had the same agency, although we were fortunate to not have the issues interfere with our adoption. Our caseworker did quit after we returned home. We were in Kirov region and they waived our waiting period so we loved that! We had a great experience with that region! We would love to to go back to the same region also since our son is so fantastic!

.....I am so glad it didn't interfere with you! We actually were very blessed. Emma had been off of the registry for months, and we were told we were on a "priority list" (by the way, NO such thing). Nothing was happening though. It was right around the new law of the extended time on registry, etc. Our agency rode those tails for a while, but I kept insisting something wasn't right. The director hated me! I basically wouldn't let it die. When we finally got to region, our driver told us they weren't even working with our agency anymore b/c they weren't paying. Our baby's file had basically been pushed aside and she was just there for no reason. Our rep had moved on the another agency. He had another family there that had committed 6 weeks previously and was already there for court (we had committed 14 months previously, so imagine our shock) By the grace of God, though, he did decide to go ahead with our process and now we have our baby. She has more delays due the extra months, I am sure, but she is a miracle!

Guatemala is not looking great right now. Supposedly everything will shut down as of December of this year. I would be very hesitant to start a Guatemalan adoption right now.
