Leaving tomorrow to bring our son home!!

We are so excited to be leaving tomorrow for our court date and to bring our son home!

We are 1st time parents and have waited SO long for this time in our lives.

If anyone has any tips on how to soothe/entertain our 18 month old on the flight home...any and all ideas are appreciated!

I look forward to posting our first pics when we get home.

Take care everyone!
Claricey

Wow - congrats Claricey! Have a wonderful pick-up trip!

Hmm..ideas for an 18 month old - gravol!!! LOL, just kidding. How abut play-doh, puzzles, little presents he can unwrap and play with every 30 minutes or so (chalk and chalk board, crayons, etc), lots of snacks...that's all I can think of right now...

Hope you have a great time!

Portable DVR player. Pick up some Russian DVD's from any street vendor - they're cheap! Mix in some Blue's Clues and Sesame Street in English.

For take off and landing-give him a bottle or food so that he doesn't hurt his ears! We gave our kids bottles meant for smaller babies so they had to suck forever during the descent and ascent.

Russians are really loud on planes, so don't worry about bothering them. If it's an afternoon flight, they will be up and around, socializing, as soon as the fasten seat belt sign is off.

You must be so excited! Do you have all of his little clothes and little toys and food packed?

our little one was 15 mos old (more like a 9mo) - and he like things that made noise (big surprise). We brought his blankets on board (it is always cold) the same ones he had been sleeping with for the last few days in Moscow - I think he liked being snuggled in between me and daddy.

Cheerios cheerios cheerios!! I also took along "handy sacks" they are usually at the checkout counter at wal mart or target - blue bag - has 10 bags very compact (helps with diapers, wipes and trash)

AMEN on the DVD player - nowadays we don't board a plane without one!!!

Good luck - keep your camera handy - lots of pics on the plane is what I missed out on - just so busy worrying about the baby and ears and tummy and eating and crying and the passengers around us etc etc...

Mine were older and younger, so I do not have any advice for you on what to bring.

Best wishes on your travels and we look forward to seeing pictures of your little one soon!

I would recommend NOT to use Benadryl as was recommended by some. It made our daughter SO hyper.

Those little Doodle toys with the pen are good. Any toy that depends on sound to hold their attention does not work since the airplane background noise is too loud.

The thin paper books were good because they don't weigh so much and you can take more. Our daughter also LOVED a book with tabs that pulled out and things popped up. She wore that thing out.

We had 3 flights. Two fine. One not so fine. On that one there was another couple with 2 adopted little ones. For some reason they were toward the front of the plane where it was quieter and darker AND they were given some extra open seats! We on the other hand were in the midst of a packed middle of the plane where the guy ahead insisted on having his seat all the way back. Well, enough, I don't want to relive that one.

I wish you a great time and congratulations!!!!

Yahooo!!! Congrats and have a safe trip!!!

For us, our two (14 months and 2.75 years) weren't interested in movies when we brought them home, we tried though!!! So, we counted on new/different toys, and lots of finger type food to keep them at least somewhat entertained......

Not an easy task!!! Good luck and congrats again!

Best Wishes and Good Luck

If you do take a DVD player, our daughter loves Baby Einstein DVD's, especially the ones with animals.
Snacks and food appropriate for your little one. We found that Brylee was not to keen on airline food.
And a big second to the several changes of clothes and extra wipes, diapers and blankets. We thought we took enough of this stuff, but found out the plane had a laxative effect on our daughter, as it sounds like it does to alot of other kids.

Best wishes and hope everything goes smooth. Take alot of pictures, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. Your in our prayers.
