Hi "KazMumToBe"... though my situation was alittle bit different, I adopted as a single Mama, but I choose to travel without a friend or family member. I was scared for several reasons.... fear of flying (and I work for the FAA :O ), Never been out of the country before, and of course all of the History, and current events in Russia, I was scared. I was reassured by my agency here and in Russia, that all would be fine. I did receive a list of do's and don'ts while in Russia and traveling by myself. I followed them all, and had a GREAT TIME. I wanted the expirence, and even with my DD by myself there (trip 2), I was fine. The RU Agency had a driver at my disposal 24 hours, along with a translator, etc. I was soooo busy with trips to the orphanage (4 hours one way - only 62 miles outside of Moscow!!!!), so that alone took 8 hours a day, visits to doctor, additional gift buying, consulate, embassy, passport office, etc. I was never alone.

I agree, if you can not disrupt your little one at home (the least possible with daddy there), and the costs of another seat or two on the airplane, you will be able to use that money on other things
