Music that's meaningful for adoption

Does anyone have a song that has been meaningful to them that reflects feelings of adoption. It doesn't have to be specifically an adoption song, but one that really seems to fit. I've liked "Somewhere out there" and "The water is wide", but I know there must be tons more. I'm making a compilation of songs for my kids. I would be happy to share the finished product with anyone who is interested.
BTW, I did order the Songs for Adoption C.D. and it is pretty good.
These icons can be a little annoying, but this one just fit too perfectly! Ha!

HI there! I haven't been on trip #1 yet, but I've been thinking about music because I'd like to put together an online slideshow with pictures from our trips to music.

Here are some songs I'm considering:
Keep Holding On--Avril Levigne
When Love Takes You In--Steven Curtis Chapman
You'll Be In My Heart--Phil Collins
My Wish--Rascal Flatts
Lullaby/Godspeed--Dixie Chicks
Angel--Jessica Simpson

We have two that are so meaningful to us. Both happen to be by Rascal Flatts.

1) Broken Road- we had the lyrics on our adoption announcement and our video from trip #1 has the song to it.

2) My Wish-we just made a slide show for our one year Family Day that has pictures of the first year of all of us as a family-that song to me is PERFECT.

My best friend wrote us one when we were matched with J. It's called The Blessing by Jennifer Shaw. It's available on iTunes if you want to here a snippet.

My absolute favorite is by Jars of Clay - called Show You Love

the lyrics are:

Speak- say the words that no one else will ever say
Love- love like the world we know is over in a day

I'm gonna show you a love in every language
I'm gonna speak with the words that need no form
I'm gonna give you what you never had before

You're beautiful and I am weakened by the force of your eyes
So shine bright to separate the truth from the lies
I'm gonna show you love

I'm gonna show you a love in every language
I'm gonna speak with the words that need no form
I'm gonna give you what you never had before

So tie me to a tree and let the smoke and ash collect
No, I won't regret to let love do what love will let
We can drown in mixed emotions or walk across an angry sea
This is the cost of being free

Maroon5 had a hit with She Will Be Loved (I think that was the title). Not adoption related but used to have me in tears everytime I heard it!

I love "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride or
"Wrapped Up In You" by Garth Brooks.

"Heaven" by Live has some great lyrics as well;I first heard it as background music to a "Gotcha Day" video at an adoption seminar. It fit perfectly.

Hey!

The video (with music) that we found REALLY helpful was not geared really toward adoption, but was just amazingly happy and comforting -- It's "Babysongs" -- songs with titles like "Today I Took My Diaper Off" -- and "My Mommy Comes Back" -- and "Baby's Good Doggy" -- and "Shout and Whisper" -- and duh... there were several others we loved ... ok, "Don't Take My Blanket."

Good stuff. Happy stuff. She and I can still sing all the words.

Somewhere out there by Linda Ronstadt. I used to listen to that one every day while I was waiting.

Forgot about two that we all sang constantly -- "We Are Family" (Mommy and Daddy and Me!) (accompanied by much hugging and jumping around), and "Karina, Karina, Where You Been So Long," sung to the tune of the old "Corina, Corina" -- this one was a HUGE hit for years (she later confessed she thought we'd written a song just for her!) --

Super memories!

Although I don't post very often I did want to jump in on this and thank everyone for some great ideas on music. I recently used Microsoft's Photostory to create a slide show of our first and second trips and put it to the music "Lullaby" by the Dixie Chicks. The song was perfect for it.

Steven Curtis Chapman has already been mentioned a couple of times. My favorite of his is "What Now":

I saw the face of Jesus in a little orphan girl
She was standing in the corner on the other side of the world
And I heard the voice of Jesus gently whisper to my heart
Didn't you say you wanted to find me?
Well here I am, here you are
So, What now?
What will you do now that you found Me?
What now?
What will you do with this treasure you've found?
I know I may not look like what you expected
But if you remember this is right where I said I would be
You've found me
What now?
