Two Years Ago Today 2nd Trip
Two years ago today my wife and I left Dallas to fly to Vladivostok to adopt our son and bring him home. We were incredibly lucky that the time between trips was only two months. John has been such a blessing and a joy to us it is hard to imagine life without him. It is even more difficult to think what his life would be like if he had stayed in the orphanage.
Being a Texan, I naturally hate to brag, but John is such an incredible little guy. The other day he was playing on his swing set and I was explaining to him that when daddy goes to school it is different than when he goes to school. I was telling him that daddy is taking a math classb (linear algebra). I then asked him what 1 + 1 was. I was shocked when he told me 2. I then asked him what 2 + 1 was and he answered 3. Then I asked him what 3 + 1 was and he said 4. At that point he started getting bored, but I was able to repeat the experiment with my wife present. Not bad for 2 ¾ years old. Attached are two of the referral pictures that we received and fell in love with. He was about five months old when they were taken. He was seven months old when we met him and ten months when we brought him home. One of the pictures is of John sitting on a motorcycle in Sam’s Club and the last one was professionally taken last fall. We can’t wait to start the process all over again to adopt a baby girl. The problem is the John has set the bar so high. That little girl will have a lot to live up to.

WOW, he is such a doll, and what a smartie! You'll have to wake up early to stay a step ahead of him, Dad. All the pictures are great, but I especially love the one of him on the bike -- too cute!
Re: your someday daughter, no worries. When the time comes, I assure you that you'll find the little princess who was destined to wrap Daddy around her finger as well as "hook" her big brother into doting on her. And when you find her, you won't even think about comparing your two as each will have their own distinctive personalities and bring immeasurable joy to your lives. BLessings and congratulations on this special anniversary -- enjoy that special boy. )
