Thank You thmc1215

for posting the info about the G-884. I had not been aware we could get all those documents back.

Today I received the last packet of info (2 adoptions, 2 countries). I sent the request in June 2006.

Glad you finally got everything! I'm so glad I sent off and got all of my kids' documents, plus I was curious to see what was in "mysterious envelope"!!

I also sent away for mine. I still have not received them. Was just curious What exactly is in them ? Would there be stuff in there that I had not received because I actually had received nothing from court except adoption certificate and birth certificate.

Thanks

KC

We received Russian notarized copies of our DD and DS's birth certificate and adoption certificates and court report (all with the translation attached). We received ours last Summer, but I believe that was all that we received.

It is nice to know that we do have another copy even if it is not the "official copy", but a notarized copy.

Also, if anyone is in SC and is interested in getting a Domestication of Adoption Certificate through the state let me know. If you will PM me your email, I will send you the forms.

It was pretty easy. I just had to pay a fee, make a few trips to the Probate Court office, and mail documents to DHEC and I received the certificates for my children. I feel so much more comfortable using these certificates for legal purposes rather than carrying around their Russian birth certificates and taking a chance on loosing them.

Documents

I filed for my documents last May. From what I remember, I sent a copy of my DS and DD's passport, birth cert, adoption cert, and court papers (along with translation), and certificate of citizenship.

I can't remember now if it asked for proof of our relationship or not (that may be the paperwork that I filed with the state to get their domestication of adoption cert).

You may not have to send all the copies of paperwork that I sent - I just wanted to be sure that they had all they needed to send me the documents. I also took the form down to our local INS office for their signature, but that was a wasted trip. They told me that they did not handle this and all I needed to do is to mail the form and paperwork to the INS address for my area.

I sent in a cover letter along with the completed G-884.

For the child I sent:
- photocopy of the certificate of citizenship
- photocopy of the picture page on the childs passport
- photocopy of the stamped page showing when and where he arrived in America
- photocopy of his state of Missouri birth certificate

For me I sent:
photocopy of drivers license
photocopy of the picture page on my passport

I did this in 1 mailing for 2 adoptions from 2 countries. The info was sent to me in 2 separate mailings.

Can I ask what you put as the specific documents you wanted to get back? Is there a name for the packet??? Also are the kids getting naturalized or is it just the citizenship certificate? One last thing, What is the type of entry? I think our documents may be missing some information. Thanks!

Hello,

In the specific information box I wrote:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--ALL DOCUMENTS PERTAINING TO INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION--
All documents we received at the U.S. Embassy Warsaw, Poland to be given to INS agents at port of entry into the U.S. with our child.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received a Certificate of Citizenship after adoption, I just sent a photocopy of that. All the lines on the form about naturalization, I just wrote "NONE".

My kiddos entered on an "IR-3 Perm Res". This info should be on your child's passport entry page.
