I am soooo excited for DD!!! We started seeing a Neuro Psycologist/Neuro OT Doctor on Monday. I had heard wonderful things about this doctor, and been talking to her on the phone on and off for a year now. Well, DD had some of her initial testing done on Monday, and Dr. "D" is sooo excited to be working with her. Through the testing and observation, DD has "Dysgraphia", among several other "brain communication problems". This is not a surprise, as I new there was some "dis-connects". The good news is, is that alot can be worked, trained (since it was NEVER trained or learned in the first place), and some Re-training of areas that where used to just cope and compensate. Everything from Eye Tracking, to handwriting (retraining is on an incline board and sometimes on an easel), to jig-saw puzzles (which she is very good at already). The right frontal lobe taking in information, and attempting to organize it, etc. is not totally connected (Neurons misfiring in a sense). There is going to be everyday Neuro OT (which we get to do at home), and DD consider's fun , and twice a month visit to the Dr. The prognosis (at this very early stage) is looking very good. This Dr. specializes in Pediatric Brain Injuries (natural or accidental).
Just to know that no matter the %, DD's life will improve is the BEST NEWS I have received since the Judge 2 years ago granted my DREAM!!! Just wanted to share this with you.... Will let you know updates as we go. There is alot of detail (o.k. dealing with the brain ), which I only gave you a very short summary, but know that it is all good..... Blessings....................

Please keep sharing the different tasks they give you to retrain the brain. As a Sp. Ed. teacher, I'm always looking for new things to try.
