Yes, votemom, they were in our region. They only live a short distance from me, but I actually met them around the world.

Forum friends, know this.....you never know how the smallest thing you do may affect another person.

While we were on trip 1 (the unsuccessful trip most of you know about), we were experiencing one of the worst, most heartwrenching experiences of our lives. There was no time to eat that day and through all of the emotional turmoil, no appetite to eat either. In the middle of that horrible night my husband and I both all of the sudden found ourselves starving! The cheese that D and his wife left for us rather than conveniently throwing out was still in the refrigirator. While we sat up the rest of the night trying to decide our Russian adoption fate, we remembered the cheese, what a blessing! As crazy at is sounds, through all the heartache and turmoil, some how I/we found comfort in that cheese!

Thanks D & L, may you find your daughter and have a wonderful Christmas in Moscow!!

WoW what a neat story Lovestruck...I hope all goes well for them!

We also had a moment like that...we met a couple (from this board) who were on trip 2 while we were on trip 1. We spent the first night in Moscow and met them for dinner. Then we went out to our region...lost our referral, got a new one (our Hannah!)and came back to Moscow. When we returned, we met them in the lobby when we went to check in! IT WAS SOOO NICE and SOOO comforting to see them! They brought us soups, snacks and a big jug of water..and even let us borrow their calling card so that we could call our family and tell them what happened in our region. (they were waitin gout their 10 days). Truly, it was a gift from God to see them again, and it meant soo much! (besides the fact that we got to meet their darling daughter...so it gave us hope!)

HI Rainy.... Thanks for posting, as I am sending up MANY Prayers for D & L right now!!!

I spent Christmas in Moscow (2004), and while I was NOT allowed to visit my DD (court was already done, and Christmas fell on a Saturday), her orphanage REFUSED to allow ME, her MaMa to come visit her.... Weekend, and WE only allow PARENTs/Relatives to visit.... EXCUSE ME..... I am her parent!!!! Anyway, I hired a translator and driver to get me out of the Hotel, and spent Christmas Day at Red Square, GUMs (highly over rated - IMHO), watching the changing of the Guard at the Tomb, riding the subway, etc. My family was affraid that I would be very sad being in Moscow by myself, and NOT being able to see DD. I had to take a photo of me out and about (date stamped of course) to prove I left the Hotel (hehehehe).

Even without being able to see DD, This Christmas in Moscow was one of the most wonderous!!
